Christ sacrificed Himself on the cross to erase your bad KARMA

One problem with Christians using the Old Testament to “prove” that Jesus is the messiah. They are appealing to passages that do not appear to be about the messiah. The other is the flip side of the coin. Christians who think that Jesus fulfilled predictions of the Old Testament base their views, in no small measure, on what the Gospels say about Jesus’ life: He was born in Bethlehem. His mother was a virgin. He healed many people. He was rejected by his own people. He was silent at his trial. And so on – there are lots of these “facts” from Jesus’ life, it is thought, that fulfilled Scripture. But how do we know that these are facts from Jesus’ life?

The only way we know is (or think we know it) is because authors of the New Testament Gospels claim that these are the facts. But are they? How do we know that Jesus was actually born in Bethlehem? That his mother was actually a virgin? That he was actually silent at his trial? And so forth and so on? We only know because the Gospels indicate so. But the authors of the Gospels were themselves influenced in their telling of Jesus’ story by the passages of Scripture that they took to be messianic predictions, and they told their stories in the light of those passages.

Take Jesus’ birth in Bethlehem. A couple of times on the blog I’ve talked about how problematic it is to think that this is a historical datum. It’s true that both Matthew and Luke say that Jesus was born in that small village. But Mark and John do not assume that this is true, but rather that he came from Galilee, from the village of Nazareth. Moreover, Matthew and Luke *get* Jesus born in Bethlehem in radically different and contradictory ways, so that for both of them he is born there even though he comes from Nazareth. Why don’t they have a consistent account of the matter?

why do unbelievers always think we're trying to prove something to them........you do realize no one gives a fuck if you make the wrong choice, right?.....except maybe your mother.......

I associate chanting with meditation.

I do see what you're saying about music and chanting :0)

Mantra meditation entails a Mantra that is sacred unto itself [name of God]; but in zazen sitting meditation the mantra is a tool to reach mushin [no-mindedness].

We know crowds will chant in defense of their vocations.

Call and response Gospel etc as a [congregational] form of chanting.

What really makes me smack my head is whenever folks stand in the first 30 rows of a rock/rap/etc concert, waving their hands into air ---what is that? If I paid $300+ for a front row seat I don't understand why I must stand. Revelry over rock idols.

The rap fan that recites lyric all day is doing a meditation.

Meditation is meant to quiet the mind of it monkey-mind tendencies.

The entire celebration is about Christ's resurrection. I haven't seen a denial about that from anyone.

Work on your reading comprehension.
I never said anyone denied.

I said that the OP and all the bible thumpers that came after it made a guy hanging on a cross and bleeding out the most noteworthy and important thing to focus on for the Easter celebration.

No bible thumper disputed that premise until I mentioned that the crucifixtion and execution was on Good Friday, it was not on Easter, and the whole purpose of the Easter celebration was to rejoice in the resurrection and renewal.
Easter is not about a guy bleeding out on a cross. That would be a depressing holiday indeed. Why did bible thumpers not even contemplate that until I mentioned it?? Are you not familiar with your own religion?

Its a free country though.
If certain Bible thumpers want to make the focus of Easter celebration about a guy nailed to a cross and bleeding out, that's fine.

My Easter celebration next Sunday, in accordance with the Orthodox liturgical calendar, is going to be a celebration of resurrection, new life, rebirth, and divine renewal. Not about a guy bleeding out on a cross.

Russian Easter Eggs

The egg is one of the symbol of "NEW LIFE, REBIRTH & LOVE" to be handed down to us from antiquity.
The egg, as a universal symbol, transcends many races, creeds and cultures. The egg in the Eastern Orthodox church represents the resurrection of Christ and is used in the celebration of Pascha (Easter) to affirm believe in a physical resurrection from the dead and eternal life with God,

A man cannot die for anyone's sins, God has no form and God is everywhere and everything, nothing is outside of God , the goyim triune god is limited and polytheistic

God has no beginning or ended , man does

There are no forces outside of God i.e. the christian devil

The concept of sin is man-made and morality is subjective.

The logic of the "dies for your sins" is so silly.

So a supreme being creates us through his imagination and lives through us all providing our consciousness and insights and he designs it all just so he can torture us in hell, another one of the places he must have made, all so we make the decisions he's helping us make correctly?

What a stupid piece of thought. I realized it was stupid when I was 12 years old. What's your excuse, adults?

Strange how the ignorant goyim know nothing other then what was drilled into their skulls as children about not believing the man god story and going to the goyim hell if they don't believe

No wonder why the lower IQ parts of the country are a hotbed of christer fundy ignorance
