Christmas is for Christians

Merry Ho Ho Herb,

We Christians don't celebrate Buddhist or Hindu holidays, so what give them the right to celebrate Christmas?

Nearly all U.S. Christians (96%) say they celebrate Christmas. No big surprise there. But a new Pew Research Center survey also finds that 81% of non-Christians in the United States celebrate Christmas

What's Christ got to do with Christmas? It's all commercial now, anyway. Belief in a religion is totally NOT required. And it's the most important season to the consumer-driven economy. All the best Christmas songs are written by Jews.

I am not a Christian and I celebrate Christmas. I'll tell you why. It's fun and heartwarming. Of course I don't go to church or pray or observe anything even remotely religious about it. I observe Christmas the capitalist way. Buy gifts, food and decorations. Get the fam together. Share a smile. Share some togetherness. Have a feast. Share the joy of giving. Reflect on the passing year.

I bet a lot of 'Christians' simply go through the motions but don't REALLY believe, anyway. Just reading all the hatred posted by 'Christians' shows that. Loving your neighbor just makes sense to me. It's logical. I don't need anybody threatening me with damnation to figure that out. But I sure see a lot of 'Christians' who are full of hatred. I bet a lot of 'Christians' just go through the motions of being religious just in case they are wrong about not REALLY believing.

It should come as no big surprise that people like the holiday, but not so much the religious aspect.

People have been celebrating the winter solstice long before Christianity usurped the tradition.

The days are getting longer now! THERE's a good reason to celebrate.

Hello Nordberg,

Vileherb has no understanding of being a Christian. He hates and judges so many people. He is so angry all the time.

I disagree. Herb has always been polite to me, even though we usually disagree.

Must be something in the way the view is presented.

Christmas is for Muslims, too

It may come as a surprise to many to learn that Jesus is mentioned in the Quran over 100 times, while Muhammad is mentioned just five times. There is a whole chapter in the Quran named “Mary” - she is the only woman mentioned by name in the whole book.

Muhammad said: “The dearest person to me in friendship and in love, in this world and the next is Jesus, the son of Mary.”

Thanks to a handful of extremists, people have an erroneous notion that all Muslims want to do is convert everyone, by violence if necessary. Well, the Quran says “there is no compulsion in religion”, meaning you can’t force anyone to become Muslim. You can, however, off them if they leave. So think twice before joining, Herb.

One of my tasks I tackled was to catch up on shredding junk mail.

It's kind of therapeutic feeding things into the shredder.

Takes a while, gives a chance to reflect on things.

Hey.

Good shredder trick.

If you never tried this, you will be amazed.

It's a cheap little shredder, but I've had it for years. It gladly chews up everything I feed it (of course I have to work within it's limited capacity.)

Oh yeah. The trick.

I used to get tangles in there. The blades would load up with shredded bits. It was a pain to pick that stuff outta there. And if you leave it in there the thing just gets slower and slower. Would probably burn up if nothing is done.

So get a can of silicone spray lubricant.

Feed a sheet in there to get it going. Spray the stuff right in the jaws while it's running. Gets 'em all coated. All that chewed up stuff just drops right through. Never loads up anymore.

And wow. Does it ever speed up!

Merry Ho Ho.

Don't say I never gave you anything.

There ya go.

Great trick.

You're welcome.

Why do you believe that? Serious question. I hear sentiments like yours a lot from friends.

They use the word "hate" a lot regarding liberals. Liberals "hate" America, "hate" Christians, "hate" the military, "hate" the Constitution... you get the picture.

Their shallow thinking doesn't allow room for nuance.

Well?

If the object is to stick to a preconceived ideology no matter what flaws are pointed out, it helps to dehumanize those who might point out those flaws.

Makes it easier to disregard the message if one focuses instead on the messenger.

That way, it becomes (in their mind) about the person saying something objectionable, rather than what is said.

And then what is said can be more easily disregarded.

Instead of actually considering it for the merit of it.

America hasn't celebrated Christmas, it's celebrated pagan traditions, and consumerism. If you want Christ back in Christmas, lose the toys, and go with the St. Nick tradition of giving those in need a little coin for essentials. How many Christian families push the Santa theme? I've been weirded out by so many that do, that I've visited before. They wonder why Christmas isn't Christ enough, despite this. Consumermas

Its true.. Muslims do revere Jesus and all the Jewish patriarchs.

Shepherds wouldn't have been in the field watching their flock and a census would not have been taken during the rainy season be it december or january.

The rainy season is in April...

For Israeli Jews, a newfound love affair with Christmas ...

2 hours ago · Jewish Israelis have fallen in love with Christmas, and nowhere is this more evident than the northern Arab city where more than two millennia ago, according to Christian belief, a woman named Mary received news that she was bearing the son of God.

If it wasn't for the rampant consumerism associated with Christmas it would most likely die down to a low key holiday celebrated during Mass by the die hard Watch Me Be Holy Christians.

The pressure to show your love with gifts is the Reason for the Season.

Now, go on Youtube and find all the videos of people either upset or over acting to the Spirit of Christmas that was waiting for them under the Yule tree.

Maybe it is time for us all to take advantage of every opportunity to lighten it up a bit!

Merry Christmas everyone.

EVERYONE!

For those of you who do not celebrate this holiday...I hope it is a fun day for you too.
