I'm glad you brought this up. You're right, in way I'm not advocating for an end to negotiation. But I am advocating for making sure that both sides of the negotiation are as close to even as possible. Unions are by far the best way to match the economic power of industrialists for a fair seat at the negotiating table. This was the problem of 100 years ago, and it was placated by Union membership as the tool to address grievances over violent revolution.



Actually, and I hate to put on this darker hat, but Trump is the nuclear option. Because frankly the more capitalist stooges rip this country apart to suck out those profitable innards the more people will turn to further left ideology to reject it. I would argue Trump winning the election and exposing an under belly of corruption helps the progressive cause way more than Hillary could have pushed it in 8 years.



Diminishing returns leading to eventual starvation. Trickle down economics is a feeding tube.



I actually like that this is true. Bernie isn't some unchecked god king. He will have to make deals - but I don't expect him to compromise on the core values of the movement.

He will have to. What good are core values if they cannot be converted into policy? We want the same things. I am simply being more pragmatic about it. It's a great vision but you can't get there all at once. And the climate won't wait another 4 years. We have to have someone who will act now. Greta said so. Greta is right.

I thought we were talking about the general impact of illegal immigration. If we're talking about just violent crime I've already provided the stats, from the CATO institute no less https://www.cato.org/blog/illegal-immigrants-crime-assessing-evidence , that shows illegals commit less violent crime than the national average. There's no statistical evidence to suggest sanctuary cities are greater hot beds of illegal immigrant crime.

Others pointing out individual cases like Kate Steinle are an emotional appeal to mask the lack of proof to the claim there is a massive trend and crime spree caused by illegals.

Not one crime would be committed or one life lost if illegals (non-citizens) obeyed our immigration laws.

The percentage of crimes committed is irrelevant.

None of what I wrote above will console a victim of illegal immigrant crime – and it shouldn’t. To those victims and their loved ones, their pain is not diminished by knowing how unlikely it was to happen to them.

Turning that girl into a martyr is your argument. You avenge her death by wanting to dole out infinite amount of resources to catch and deport every illegal - which is impossible. The vast majority of illegals are not the man who accidentally shot Kate.

And yet you'll never hold the GOP or Trump to that same standard. And it is relevant when the question of resource devotion. Do you spend time going after families who's only crime is being undocumented or do you go after violent offenders? Rich people get away with crimes all the time - where is your demand for justice then?

No, I posted statistics that prove that illegals (non-citizens) are assaulting, raping and murdering American citizens. These illegals are sheltered by sanctuary cities and would not be here to commit those crimes if the left did not support open borders.

What good is watered down policy if it doesn't address the issue? We can't continually compromise to kick the can down the road. TO quote MLK a dream deferred is a dream denied.

I remember Dianne Feinstein telling a group of kids around Greta's age and younger that she was the pragmatist and the kids too idealist and if they didn't like how the establishment was handling the problem they should run for office. It's very clear we don't have time to wait with certain Democrats in power who compromise too much.
 
Illegals (non-citizens) violate our laws the moment they cross our borders .

Do it twice and it’s a felony (up to 3 years in the slammer).
 
American citizens who commit crimes should be arrested.

Illegals (non-citizens) would not harm one American if they obeyed our laws.

You presented national stats, you didn't show anything about the nature of sanctuary cities protecting these people. They still go to jail for violent crimes. And you've ignored the source I posted by CATO that statistiacall speaking they still comit less violent crimes than natives. Using federal arrest rates means nothing when they are skewed towards poor people ans minorities. They don't arrest violent crimes that are handled at the State level.
 
The left supports illegals and sanctuary cities and open borders.

They support criminality.
