College Football season is almost here!

Well go and try and get a ticket for an Alabama game or the SEC Championship game and you will be appalled by Ticket Masters Dynamic pricing algorithm. You will select a $200 ticket for a nose bleed seat and when you go to check out to pay for the ticket don’t be surprised that the fee will be $500.

Yeah, they add the tax, shipping and handling, college fund fee, substitution fee, my nuts itch fee, and THEN they start adding bigger charges.

Once again we are on the cusp of the college football season!!

Most of the preseason polls have the same top end.

1) Alabama
2) Ohio State
3) Georgia
4) Clemson
5) Notre Dame

Notre Dame will drop soon, since they play Ohio State in the first game.

Alabama will be better this year. Same top offense, but I am hearing the defense will be a monster.

In other words, the poll of the schools that pay or promise to pay their players the most

Sabin was hysterical when he said all the current pay to play "reforms" were bad cause they hurt competition, no Nick, they only mean other schools can now outspend Alabama, and even do it legally, the Mercedes alone ain't going to do it anymore

I just posted the top 5 when I made this thread.

But to help those out west feel better, let me expand it.

6) Texas A&M
7) Utah
8) Michigan
9) Oklahoma
10) Baylor
11) Oregon
12) Oklahoma State
13) North Carolina
14) USC

Hopefully this soothes those who claim a geographic bias.

Well, if Texas should go to Alabama and win their first game, they become TOP 10 and a MOVIE will be made!

Probably not! Carry on!

Too funny!

Nick Saban has made some good points about the NIL. But if you prefer to spout bullshit, I have no problem with it.

Alabama has spent money of football, that is true. Upgrading facilities etc. But not paying players. And none got a Mercedes from the school or boosters.

Your constant whining about college football is wearing thin.

Bama goes to Texas this Saturday. The best Texas can hope for is to not get blown out. But the players and fans chanting "We Want Bama" is not going to help.

Right, all those players driving Mercedes around campus financed them themselves, if you believe that you must have graduated from Alabama

And that was before NIL, now Lou will have to offer them part ownership to keep up with the big market teams

I don't think anyone knows how Texas will play this year yet. They may not even reach the Top 25 status again this year.

However, a good ass-whooping by Alabama early on, may harden them up enough to be able to have a good year.

Should be better, promised every starting lineman fifty grand a year (https://www.si.com/college/2021/12/07/texas-offensive-line-nil-deal-nonprofit), imagine what the specialized positions are getting, let alone if they have a star

I didn't think the players were allowed to collect gifts like that- I thought that would be against the League Rules!

I would think SMU and Baylor would have something to say about that kind of BS!

The stars are all yet to be born in Texas. But a star is born every Saturday somewhere.

Now that the NIL is in play, they can buy them.

Before that, I didn't see a bunch of athletes driving Mercedes around campus. And I have actually been there often in recent years.

“League Rules?”

You must have been in a coma for the last six months, there are no rules today, for example, “Caleb Williams gets $1 million NIL offer,” (https://www.usatoday.com/story/spor...dollar-nil-offer-eastern-michigan/9124475002/), and that is for a lesser school, what do you think the big boys are doing

Which is why Lou was critical of NIL and new transfer rules, now everyone can do what he’s been doing for years, and Tuscaloosa ain’t competing for players when the major market schools get involved

Anyone is lying to themselves if they still thinks any of this even remotely resembles college football, or related to college football traditions, it is pure pro football using the school’s name to promote itself.

Going to be interesting when the alumni start dictating to the schools what they can and not do to players “attending” their school

Saban wasn't paying players. He recruited because he created the best place to play football, with the best chance for a championship and an NFL career.

His best recruiting tool is that every player he recruited since 2007, if they stayed at least 3 years, has at least one championship ring.

The players get paid for the use of their likeness. The alumni nor the boosters have any say in what the players do.

Not in a coma, just been too busy to keep up with Sports. Here we are in the first week of NFL football, and I haven't even watched any preseason football!

But, not a fan of the Hall Of G.O.A.T.s (Hall of Gloats) or Non-Fungible Tokens- Matt Leinart or Caleb Williams either.

I think all of that is what is ruining the sport of College Football!

Right, do we need to get back to the Mercedes again? The only thing your naivety is missing is the guarantee of a good college education

Not a question of “is,” already has, it is a pay to play game now, the school that can shell out the most bucks will get the best players, and with the transfer rule, it is an open market. Purely professional now

Worse part is that it didn’t have to be this way, if the NCAA did what it was created to do they could have stopped it years ago, controlled it, but when it decided to chase the bucks and turn a blind eye to the existing corruption, the ship sailed

What cracks me up is individuals as this thread creator who still think it is amateur athletics, college competition, rah rah, win it for the home crowd, carrying the college banner, etc.. Anything but

Collège football has just about completed its semi-pro status with schools the equivalent of cities in the NFL with free agency and NIL. Not saying this is good or bad , just that it is what it is.
All that's left is for the NCAA to create a plan for parity like they do with the NFL draft and strength of schedule based on the previous year's performance.
Free agency already allows for a slight shift to parity. Not a huge decision any more for a player to choose a college team his last year of h.s.
Still fun to watch.

I am suspecting that the Thread Author is a Bama or Michigan fan.

Bama and Michigan fans love their use of paid professional Football players.

What else can I say?
