Columbia professor: I do heroin regularly for ‘work-life balance’

The man knows more about brain chemistry than the vast majority of humans

I would not recommend anyone to take depressants without consulting a Dr who knows their health history

This man is a TOP brain chemistry Dr and knows his health history

Making medical situations illegal is pretty stupid huh

Maybe we should ask him to check you out?

you are much better off doing dope then drinking booze.
My sister drank too much and has been tryin for a liver transplant.
She just got out of ICU yet again. This time she almost died,,dope is harmless unless you OD.

That means the quantity can kill you ,but not the pharmacology -which is why it needs to be legalized
for purity and standard dosing

No. Heroin is an addictive substance. Once the monkey is on your back your education isn't driving your thinking, the addiction is. Your education means nothing at that point.

it can be kicked. the problem is once you get an addiction it's very hard not to backslide even after you are clean.

I managed to do it - almost 20 years snorting heroin ( before fentanyl or I might not be here) but i never shot up.
That's a whole different level of head rush and addictive ritual behaviors that make it even harder to quit.

I've been known to pop Codeine for my arthritic knee - but I make sure not to take it every day.

On the other hand the cost to the individual and society ( cartels/breakdown of your life) by jail
and funding international criminal gangs is even worse damage

Same with alcohol

It was a complete failure when we made it illegal huh

Prior to the Harrison Act of 1914, Americans could stroll into their local apothecaries and without prescriptions, buy as much heroin and cocaine as they wanted.

A popular beverage at your local soda fountain had primary ingredients made from Coca (cocaine) and Cola beans.
They put a scoop of ice cream in it and gave it to children.

Is there a way to compare as a percentage of the population drug addiction in 1913 and drug addiction today?
The war on drugs sits just behind 2016 Trump election as an American disaster.

No it's not the same with alcohol. The vast majority of people who drink alcohol do not metabolize it into a painkiller. For some people who drink alcohol they do metabolize it in a way that is similar to heroin usage.

And don't think I didn't notice you trying to dodge the statement put forth.

child of the 60's. we are legion..those still alive and kicking anyway

Medicine Jar -Wings
There's more to life than blues and reds
I say, i know how you feel,
Now your friends are dead.
Dead on your feet, you won't get far
If you keep on sticking your hand
In the medicine jar.

How well has making it a crime for the addict worked

About as well as alcohol prohibition

You just like repeating stupid failed approaches

The difference between a leader and a follower; leaders offer solutions to current problems, followers just keep advocating the same old solutions even though those solutions are not working.

What failed approach? You're mixing apples and oranges. Your statement about prohibition not working is one I agree with but that has nothing to do with the professor, he is an addict and prohibition or not all he's going to do as an addict is try to rationalize his addiction. He shouldn't be teaching that particular course.

He advocates for it NOT TO BE ILLEGAL for an individual to imbibe a drug idiot

You people just can’t follow a straight thought because your brains are scrambled by right wing idiot propaganda
