Combat troops leaving Iraq

poor onceler...just can't get anything right....

WASHINGTON — Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama said Tuesday U.S. combat forces should be out of Iraq by spring 2008 to end “a foreign policy disaster,” but he stopped short of endorsing a cutoff in funds.

September 12, 2007 - I introduced a plan in January to remove all of our combat brigades by next March. And I am here to say that we have to begin to end this war now.

0...

He never promised to pull troops out immediately.

LOL

"Let me be clear: there is no military solution in Iraq, and there never was. The best way to protect our security and to pressure Iraq's leaders to resolve their civil war is to immediately begin to remove our combat troops. Not in six months or one year..."

YEs we surrendered a war we should not have started... Some things were accomplished including the removal and killing of Saddam Hussen, but that could have been done without the deaths of close to 5,000 us Heros and close to 100,000 innocent iraqui's.

From Obama's campaign website:

"Barack Obama will responsibly end the war in Iraq:
Immediately upon taking office, Obama will give his Secretary of Defense and military commanders a new mission in Iraq: successfully ending the war. The removal of our troops will be responsible and phased."
Well, which is it guys.....was it surrender or a responsible withdrawal?

Responsible withdrawal being the Bush Plan from day one....when Iraq has a working government and shows stability, which Bush said over over for years....(which is now the Obama plan)
Kudos to BHO for staying the course and seeing this undertaking through to a successful conclusion.

I should have known Yurt would be the one rushing off to Google to find a quote from 2007.

That's why I included the qualifier; I knew that very early on in the campaign, he made some comments like this. As the campaign progressed, he moderated his position VERY quickly, and if you check my links, by 2008 he was not saying anything even close to "immediately," and was tempering expectations.

Since Damo's comment created the impression of a candidate running on an "immediately" platform, I set the record straight.

Good find, though; I know that's a good & much-needed win for you. Kudos.

Yeah, by 2008 he saw the wisdom of the Bush plan for Iraq and that it would be successful....we.re all glad he had the good sense to follow a real leader and not go off on the crazy shit he campaigned on.

Yurt... "Immediately begin"... is different than immediately complete....

Kudos to BHO for staying the course and seeing this undertaking through to a successful conclusion.

Id say they can be the same thing. Were Bush president we would still be fighting because we would be deeply involved in ensuring the Iraq established the government we wanted them to establish.

So...you're back to Bush being a demi-god & Iraq being a wild success?

Great "plan" Bush had...hey, America - this'll only take 7+ years. Bear with me...

Only BHO is the new messiah and Iraq has been a success....Thankfully, Obama stayed the course....he could have fucked up an wasted the last 7 years if he'd have listened to the likes of Reid and Pelosi...

its was actually boring proving you wrong again...it happens so often, i no longer enjoy it, its just routine

Come on ....give your messiah some credit.....

We've gone from

"there is no military solution in Iraq, and there never was"

"to immediately begin to remove our combat troops. Not in six months or one year..."

"This war is lost"

To....responsible withdrawal and success.....

Lets hope the Iraq's can now carry on and keep control over their newfound freedom.

Oh, really? Is that why you rushed out to google something, when I was asking Damo, and even letting Damo know that he might find something from early in the campaign (like, you know, 2007)?

LOL

Okay, Yurt. If you hadn't already made it abundantly clear, I know your feelings were very hurt the other night about the whole "midnight practice" thing, which was some pretty massive egg on your face in retrospect. I get it.

? you have to begin sometime you ignorant oaf...he wanted them gone by march 08...immediately starting, not in 6 months, NOW....

yet you still deny this? thats hackish

UGH, now you are pretending not to understand English.

Had he said he would Immediately bring the troops home, you would be correct. He did not say that... Words mean things, and he said....

Immeidately begin bringing troops home...

He did, he immeidately begain the process of bringing the troops home... thats how it works, I would not have voted for the guy had he said he was going to have airplanes show up on January 23, once the oath of office was taken, and pick up all the troops and have em home for supper... that would have been incredably illresponsable.

he immediately began the process of bringing the troops home.

So these 2 statements mean exactly the same thing....???

:facepalm::rofl:

I don't know if ridiculing this shit is really worth the trouble....its like beating up a child in a wheel chair.

If you want to have a spelling contest with me, Ill give it to you... you win... I conceede..

You need a discussion forum where they spell to see who is the better speller... Im not into that. I like discussing politics.

You should do the same when anyone argues logic with you, you should conceede cuz your ability to follow logic is about as bad as my spelling.
