Connecticut’s legislature has passed a bill that would give the state’s Electoral College votes to the presidential candidate who wins the popular vote nationally.

The state Senate voted 21-14 on Saturday to join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, which includes 10 states and the District of Columbia. The state House passed the measure last week, 77 to 73.
The compact requires its members to cast their Electoral College ballots for the presidential candidate who wins the national popular vote. The agreement goes into effect once states representing at least 270 electoral votes — the number needed for a candidate to win the presidency — signs the compact.

Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy (D) has promised to sign the legislation committing his state to the interstate agreement. Once he does so, the compact will have 172 electoral votes. California, Hawaii, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington and the District of Columbia have already signed the accord.

Malloy has described the current Electoral College voting system as “fundamentally unfair.”

“With the exception of the presidency, every elected office in the country, from city council, to United States senator, to governor, is awarded the candidate who receives the most votes,” the governor said, according to the Connecticut Mirror.

We hate the EC when it doesn't work for our side, and love it when it does. I can see why it's necessary, but this is an interesting development. So on election night, we won't know who won if the popular vote is close?

I wonder how many more states will do this?

The Presidential election won't be any different from any other election.

just another step towards civil war that the left is trying to instigate. watch what happens when the 'fly over' states get ignored. it will be beautifully bloody.

Do you know how much of a difference it would have made in 2016? I'll help you out. NONE. Had this compact applied, the final EV count would still have been a Trump victory. The difference is, since Washington and Hawaii had faithless electors, the final tally would have been 304 - 232. No difference in the end just like New England having scored another field goal or touchdown in Superbowl LII would have made no difference in the end result just a slightly closer score.

If you look at the states listed, all went for Hillary in 2016. The only difference would have been Hillary receiving 232 instead of 227 due to the faithless electors in Washington and Hawaii. She still would have had her ass kicked only 304 - 232 would have been the score.

The candidate who had the most votes, about 3 million more, would have won the last election- simple.

Not based on the list of states you provided. Hillary already won those. I explained why her count would have been 232 instead of 227. Maybe having to add 5 to something made the math too difficult for you.

I think I need to use small words to make this easier for you. This will not go into effect until there are 270 electoral votes. Comprehende, fetus?

It may very well not go into effect. You posted a list of states and as it currently stands, it would have made no difference.

Comprehend, NL?

The story, if you bothered to read the whole thing, said that nothing would happen until enough states with at least 270 electoral votes, passed this measure. So, the list posted is just as of now, no more no less. READ!!!!!!!!!!!!

As I said, it may very well not go into effect. You're basing something on what MIGHT happen. Live in reality, boy.
