Connecticut To Give Its Electoral College Votes To National Popular Vote Victor

Typical a system that has worked well for over 240 years isn't good enough for the liberal snow flakes. This is nothing but a blatant attempt by the left to circumvent the Constitution. Any bets this will be found unconstitutional if it is ever tried?

170 electoral votes out of 270 is pretty damn close. There are any number of states who may jump in.

New England with 33 points was close to Philly's 41.

227 is close to 270 just not as many as 304. Hillary got her ass kicked.

I don't know that it's circumventing the Constitution since nothing about how each State has to divide it's EVs is mentioned in it just how many a State has and some procedural things related to them. They don't like the system because they lost. Nothing more and nothing less. It's lie a team getting their ass kicked then blaming the referees, the location, etc. without taking into account how pitiful a job they did in the game.

Be patient, it just may happen.................................

I still don't know how you get your ass kicked when you receive 3 million more votes. But you should thank the Russians for their large part in all this.

New England bettered Philly in a lot of categories that go into the game. The only one that mattered was the final score. Same with the election.

Yet you've shown no proof of the part you claim Russia played.

Hello floridafan,

Thanks for posting this.

Connecticut’s legislature has passed a bill that would give the state’s Electoral College votes to the presidential candidate who wins the popular vote nationally.

The state Senate voted 21-14 on Saturday to join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, which includes 10 states and the District of Columbia. The state House passed the measure last week, 77 to 73.
The compact requires its members to cast their Electoral College ballots for the presidential candidate who wins the national popular vote. The agreement goes into effect once states representing at least 270 electoral votes — the number needed for a candidate to win the presidency — signs the compact.

Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy (D) has promised to sign the legislation committing his state to the interstate agreement. Once he does so, the compact will have 172 electoral votes. California, Hawaii, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington and the District of Columbia have already signed the accord.

Malloy has described the current Electoral College voting system as “fundamentally unfair.”

“With the exception of the presidency, every elected office in the country, from city council, to United States senator, to governor, is awarded the candidate who receives the most votes,” the governor said, according to the Connecticut Mirror.

This sounds like a great idea.

No more George W Bushes, No more Donald Trumps.

We need a popular President that the majority of people feel is representative of their concerns.

It is a good measure to prevent a smaller bunch of angry outspoken people from hijacking our government.

just another step towards civil war that the left is trying to instigate. watch what happens when the 'fly over' states get ignored. it will be beautifully bloody.

What a quaintly delusional assertion. Just 'another' step towards a civil war?

Pray tell, what are the other steps that 'the left' has already taken?

Please be very specific.

Will you accept the fact that every single one of our intelligence agencies confirmed Russian involvement in the election, as has the management of Facebook.

No they are trying to circumvent the Constitution. Electoral votes are won by the candidate that gets the majority of votes in a state. They want to throw that out and make it national popular votes. that is doing away with the Electoral College as it was intended. The left controls the most populist states that is why they want to change. You are right it is nothing but sour grapes.

Years from now, I want to see a presidential candidate lose CT with less than 40% of the vote, but win the national popular vote, just so I can laugh at the state.

more gun control, for starters. you're not alone though, because the rightwing fucksticks on here are just as bad with their steps at alienating and demonizing the leftwing idiots.

I imagine they won’t be happy if a Republican were to win the popular vote.

This is the dumbest thing in the world. They are taking the vote away from their people and short sighted leftists are going along with it.

Think of this like gerrymandering. Lefties loved it until it didn’t work for them anymore.
