Sacrifice is part and parcel of almost all religions. Even Christianity is founded on one single act of human sacrifice which is critical to the faith.
I really doubt the children the Canaanites sacrificed, or the concubines and retainers of Emperors necessarily all willingly went to their ritual sacrifice.
