Crowds flock to reopened Jacksonville beaches as Florida hits record coronavirus case

It was until Desantis stopped the NY flights, and put state troopers on I-95

They're still doing that???

Not since the days when Calif tried to keep out the Oakies...

Their caravans loaded to the hilt for their invasion of Calif & many being contained in Fresno & Bakersfield, Ca.......

Big crowds at Miami Beach parks, marinas on first weekend of reopening

They are doing it here in Calif as well.... There is no prob social distancing out in the delta or bay/ocean...

thats another discussion "what we could have done" worth having - but not on this thread

Exactly which is why it's best to just open up the economy, take the death hit and discuss "what we could have done" later.

Only the morons are treating this like a hurricane or terrorist attack. It's not just a matter of "hunker down for a few hours or days until it passes". It's a novel virus for which there is no cure and no vaccine. It will be at least six months and probably a year before either are available nationwide. The nation can't take hiding in a bunker for 6-12 months. We have to gut it out, bury our dead and move forward.

FWIW, a few weeks ago I guesstimated we'd lose 5 members to COVID. CFM and Evince are still MIA. It's only a matter of time before others drop offline. I write that knowing full well it could be me. There are precautions, but no safeguards outside a CDC lab. We are all vulnerable and a few road blocks won't stop it.

Suck it up, buttercup, COVID is coming. LOL

Gov. DeSantis has been quick to praise Jacksonville’s efforts during the coronavirus pandemic. At a press conference Monday, DeSantis asked national media to apologize to the Jacksonville mayor for sensationalized reporting when Mayor Curry allowed beaches to open.

”I think apologies can be sent to The City of Jacksonville, attention Mayor Curry. You may want to cc the Mayors of Neptune, Jacksonville, Atlantic Beach." he said.
