The Respect for Marriage Act passed in the House of Representatives with bipartisan support over the summer. Supporters of the bill in the Senate said they delayed a vote on the legislation until they could ensure they had enough votes on both sides of the aisle for passage.

It doesn't "upset me." It makes me wonder just how fucking stupid the people running things actually are because they have to be stupider than me by a huge margin to think I'd swallow their codifying something into law that was already long codified into law as significant.

somehow they think that passing laws which infringe on the rights preserved to the states by the constitution will prevent the SC from finding that the federal government doesn't have the right to pass laws which infringe on rights preserved to the states by the constitution.....
