I'm not trying to stop or discourage you.

But I still don't see why you groaned what I initially said that elicited the groan.

It was all true.

Spoiled rotten multimillionaire athletes whose occupations contribute very little to society, were snubbing the country that's been so good to them, in favor of street criminals who end up dead because they choose to resist lawful arrest and fight with the police.

That is an accurate description of the situation and it is something I cannot condone or support.

What's there to groan about other than the kneeling itself and the actions of the criminals the kneeling was in support of?

Why?

Maybe because a black national anthem is seen as unnecessary.

Maybe because they feel like the idea of separate national anthems has a divisive rather than inclusive effect.

Maybe because they're tired of being told which hoops they have to jump through in order to be considered good people.

Could be many reasons.

I know I wouldn't stand.

I used to work at the Dallas VA hospital. One February I was reading the agenda for a meeting at the VA during Black History month. I noticed it started with the singing of the Black National Anthem. I thought there was only one National Anthem?

And that's fine... considering you don't attend or watch many sporting events it really isn't an issue...
I would be disappointed to be at a contest that didn't begin with the National Anthem...I personally do like it...
