The song is a hymn. Perfect religious events...Church, a baccalaureate service, a marriage, a funeral, a Juneteenth or Black History month celebration, many appropriate places...It's a very pretty and significant hymn...but it's not comparable to the National Anthem....there is no white or black national anthem...Just one national anthem...Aren't we one country and one people?
Agreed. Of course The National Anthem isn't a political anthem. And it is a mistake to call "Lift Every Voice..." a black "national anthem"; more divisive than unifying.
There is only one National Anthem, Marty, and it is NOT the black one.
