There's no need for ANY anthems at athletic events.
What next no hot dogs and apple pie!

Here's a concept. Keep all political anthems out of sports. People don't go to football games for that.
Agreed. Of course The National Anthem isn't a political anthem. And it is a mistake to call "Lift Every Voice..." a black "national anthem"; more divisive than unifying.
You can't give a reason so you fall back on lying. You and trump are two peas in a pod.
Exactly. It's what they do in dictatorships. And when it started, kids were giving the Hitler, er, Bellamy stiff-arm salute.

Why do children have to pledge to a nation?

A country is " a piece of land surrounded usually by unnatural borders! "
The song is a hymn. Perfect religious events...Church, a baccalaureate service, a marriage, a funeral, a Juneteenth or Black History month celebration, many appropriate places...It's a very pretty and significant hymn...but it's not comparable to the National Anthem....there is no white or black national anthem...Just one national anthem...Aren't we one country and one people?
Agreed. That said, volsrock has every right to sit for that anthem..... and the Congressman has every right to criticize him for it. That's how things are supposed to work. Of course, it is also completely appropriate to call volsrock a scum sucking shitbag racist. Free speech and all![]()
The National Anthem is not political.
You do have reading problems. Where did I say anything about outlawing?

Give me one good reason why the anthem should be played at sporting events. AFAIK we don't play it at other entertainments like theatre, ballet, concerts, symphonies etc.

According to History(dot)com, the tradition started in World War I.
Why the Star-Spangled Banner is Played At Sporting Events
It was meant to be unifying. But of course here in the 21st Century, instead it is used as a weapon of divisiveness. Bet you can't guess by who.
Yeah ,Trump tattoo on our forehead !
