Democrats failing to pass anti-war bill

That's true, they would both need to be impeached, in fact there is a movement called "Impeach Cheney first".

Well, according to the Constitution:

Article 2 Section 4
"The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States,
shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason,
Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors."

But everywhere else I look, everyone says the VP become president :dunno:

Can someone explain this to me?

I am one for sure, and boy the grief and ridicule that was heaped on me by many on this board. Of course that mostly took place on a prior board though.
Heck I even admitted to voting for Clinton during the heat of the Monica scandal :) Many of those who bashed the heck out of me for my anti war stance will not admit to being a bush enabler now... Not to name any names butt ....Danodemento is one outstanding example of that.
a couple of years ago it would have been hard to find a more devout follower of Bush Than Mr. Dano.

At least Dixie had enough sense to leave in embaressment.

You remember the good old days on politics.com too, huh? ;)

Yeah, you do have to give dixie props for that

Whatever.............

translates to.
Leave me alone with my misery and bottle.

There is a old saying that applies to the both of you...he/she who makes a issue and accuses the most...is the one who is guilty of the accusation!..
Now please go break a cork with your darla already...ya can bash Bush all ya want under the old pine tree!

side note: to clarify before the two of you make issue with...'Break a Cork' it is in reference to a wine bottle!

We're not fighting the people who attacked us on 9/11, in iraq. We're fighting nationalist insurgents, sectarian militias, and a small group that calls themselves "Al Qaeda in Mesopotamia", but is only loosely affiliated with OBL, and almost certainly is not affiliated with their broader goals and ideology.

Bin Laden can crow all he wants if we leave iraq. It will be meaningless bluster, not worth more american blood to allegedly prevent giving him that satisfaction.

If anything, I believe Bin Laden is thrilled that we are in iraq, and would be thrilled if we stayed.
It doesn't matter who we are fighting, it matters what our actions cause. At this point bin Laden will be happy with almost any action other than what I described. If we leave a power vacuum, he'll be thrilled, if we continue staying he'll be thrilled, if we leave behind some security while actually leaving he'll not be so thrilled.

Solution: Bush can resign, and put clinton in charge. Clinton knew something about putting together legitimate international coalitions, to do peacekeeping in trouble spots. ;)

There is this problem of the constitution and limits on serving in that capacity.

I know. That's easy to get around: Make Clinton Secretary of State, and make him the defacto executive for all foreign policy decisions.
No executive would ever do that to future executives. That would be terrible precedent.

Plus, Bush isn't going to resign. You need a different solution.

I would make him ambassador to the UN though, if he would accept it. Or even his father, who also had far larger success in creating an international coalition.

On a side note...has anyone noticed how Clinton gets a hero's welcome whenever he appears in public now?

I think Bush's relentless incompetence has really saved Clinton's legacy. People definitely associate him with a period where times were much better, we had good standing in the world and someone with genuine intelligence at the helm, who surrounded himself with good, smart people (for the most part).

Yeah, you mean you wouldn't protest him?

LOL. He would get a hero's welcome in that crowd any time. The Democrats have always been convinced he was the greatest thing since sliced bread.

I think Onceclear is saying that clinton is one of the most popular and respected men on the planet. Not just in the democratic party.

Seriously, though; looking back, wouldn't you say he was at least a "good" President?
I've pretty much always said so. I like it when there is a D President and a R Senate/Congress. It leads to much better results in both arenas I find important.

And I think I was still right that the crowds he currently appears in front of would treat him as a hero regardless of your assessment here.

Well, I personally support Feingold's defunding of the war initiatives. Otherwise this crap is going to continue to drag on with no end in sight. Iraq is a mess and we can't fix it. Our military is there with no clear tangible objectives with which they have any control over. Its a crappy realization, and the sooner we open our eyes the better.

That's correct, though, to be fair, what made me think of it was the reaction of the crowd on Jon Stewart's show last night, which isn't exactly objective.

Still, even among that crowd, I think there was more enthusiasm than there would have been for him in, say, 2000. By the comparison to the Bush years, I think everyone understands how good those years were.
