Nah, the abortion clinic bombers and the die hards can stay in the GOP. Screw them. They can cry about blastocysts that they wouldn't lift one finger to actually save from the fertitiliy clinic incinerator.

I'm talking about the broader swath of religious, working americans who are socially conservative, but not in fact nuts.

Seriously, I don't think that such a broad switch is possible without some reevaluation of the Democratic position on abortion. Social conservatives are drooling with anticipation of the SCOTUS overturning Roe v. Wade soon. If that happens, you will have a hard time trying to woo evangelicals while simultaneously trying to reinstitute an inalienable right to an abortion.

Life begins at conception, even human life. There is, however, an argument as to when that life ascends to higher thought and thus becomes a "person".
 
Legal life begins at birth.
I am XX years old since birth...
I cannot drink at 20 years since birth + 3 months....

but then one who kills a pregnant woman can be charged for 2 murders....
