Demonizing Black victims is an old racist trope

I suspect a defense attorney wouldn't do that. Let me try to explain what I'm driving at in the context of this thread.

Can we agree that in objective reality, Arbery was the victim of the McMichaels?
Yes, as established by the court.
With that established between you and I, irrespective of the defense attorney, the McMichael's defense attorney would try to portray Arbery as the bad guy to help his clients with their defense.
And he did just that.
The fact that Arbery is black has nothing to do with the defense portraying him as the bad guy.
Uh...no. The defense attorney was making racist comments in the courtroom.
That's just a common defense tactic in this kind of case, and the defense would have done the same thing if Arbery had been white and all other circumstances were the same.
For the purposes of your comment, true.
The OP's contention that it was an example of racism is false.
The OP is racism. I've already said so.

Are you aware there are not any more racist states than GA, AL, and MS?

Atlanta is over 60% black, too.

Racism is not a State. Racism occurs in every State. It also occurs among all so-called 'races'.
GA, AL, and MS certainly have no monopoly on racism.

I am well aware of Atlanta and it's population, having visited there quite a few times. My nephew lives there, you see; and I used to work with a company that had a head office there. I've been to AL and MS as well.
Frankly, I've seen several places that had a much bigger problem with racism.

The worst racism I have seen personally is in Japan.
In the former United States, that honor goes to Washington DC, followed closely by what is now the SOTNY, and then the SOTC.

GA has NOTHING on these guys!

Breonna Taylor dated a drug dealer. George Floyd held a pregnant woman at gunpoint, Jacob Blake sexually assaulted his ex girlfriend, etc. etc. etc. Oh, yeah, and Ahmaud Arbery was a thief.

Fun fact: Jacob Blake is still alive, despite media progressives all proclaiming him to be dead.

We seem to be in relative agreement about everything except the above. What comments did the defense attorney make in the court room that were racist?

We basically are.

The racist comment was that the accused were justified in their actions because they were 'defending' their neighborhood from an unknown black person, and they were justified in suspecting he was stealing stuff from people's homes (simply because he was black).

In other words, in his effort to make Arbery look like the bad guy, they did it using racism.

Wow, I was not aware that the defense attorney said "defending' their neighborhood from an unknown black person, and they were justified in suspecting he was stealing stuff from people's homes (simply because he was black)."

If they indeed said those actual words, and you aren't saying that is what was inferred, I would agree it's very racist. Again, I was not aware they actually said what you posted. In truth, I find it difficult to believe someone would say those actual words.

If the defense simply said he had "long dirty toenails", while rude and irrelevant, that is not racist.
