Denmark passes controversial bill to seize assets and valuables from refugees

It's a ' united states ' and there's no reason whatsoever that a federal Europe couldn't improve on that principle. Well, except for its unfortunate burden of rightist extremists- but they'll soon re-educate those, you betcha.

Where did you see anything in the OP that said anything about "razor wire, attack dogs, strip searches, and robbery"??

Just keeping the countryside free of vermin, eh ?

If that means keeping nice rural areas free of squatter camps such as Le Jungle, then for sure, that's the correct term.

'no reason'? you mean like the fact that most EU countries use a different language and have vastly different histories??WTF

I looked at the OP- and here's what I saw;

That ain't Belsen, boys. That's Bethlehem.

He is calling me xenophobic now, despite the fact that my wife is Thai, my daughter in law is Vietnamese and the family renting next door, from a black Jamaican woman, are from Albania. The husband drives a fork lift truck even though he has a Phd in Physics, his wife works in HR and the children are really great. They all came here legally on visas as Albania is not in the EU.

The UK welcomes people like that, not economic migrants like so many of those coming from Libya and Turkey. A friend of mine was in Antalya recently and saw first hand shops selling dinghies and lifebelts to would be migrants. They are making money hand over fist, so why isn't pressure exerted on Turkey to stop this sort of thing?

Meaning that Thais are slightly less likely to blow-up a London subway tomorrow than a Muslim refugee from Syria?

There's a danger in such complacency- but no. I'm pointing out that people can have secure attachments to some foreigners yet express deep xenophobia towards others. But then you knew that already.

There is considered to be a heightened threat of terrorist attack globally against UK interests and British nationals, from groups or individuals motivated by the conflict in Iraq and Syria. You should be vigilant at this time.

Xenophobic reaction to Brits of Thai origin would be misplaced- to my mind- yet xenophobia is rampant across Europe currently.

I do know that if a Mexican national snuck across the southern border into Brownsville carrying a back of cocaine (which I actually don't consider a dangerous substance, not counting its probable connection to violent crime) at the same moment as a Canadian citizen who is Muslim snuck across the northern border into Blaine, WA, I would be hoping that one was apprehended slightly more than I would hope that the other one was.

Is that so. What have got against Canadians ?

Because you have xenophobia confused with rationality. It's rational to want your country's borders to be something more than lines on a map.

No, I don't- but you make an interesting point. It would be difficult, in general terms, to differentiate between the two.

It's rational to want your county's borders to be something more than lines on a map.

That's subjective. I prefer the holistic view, rather than a collection of enclaves.

It's not all that hard. If immigrants are entering illegally, you prevent them from entering. The alternative is lawlessness.

Why should the rest of us be subjected to your post-modern proclivities? Aka insanity lol. The fact is people are waking up to it in both Europe and the US.

Yes, it is difficult- as your attempt at differentiation proves. You assume that your own view of ' legality ' is rational.

You are not being ' subjected ' to my viewpoint. You are attempting to subject others to yours.

The fact is people are waking up to it in both Europe and the US.

You can't just invent ' facts' and offer them as evidence of anything. The rise of rightist extremism in Europe does not equate to people ' waking up '. It might be true, however, to say that people are waking up to the rise of rightist extremism in Europe.

Yes, I believe 'legality' can be defined objectively lol. Why don't we just do away with borders entirely so anyone can go anywhere they want? Why do we need artificial constructs like 'countries', anyway?

Deliver me from your madness.

Lots of people are being subjected to yours because liberals practically run the world. You moan about the rise of rightist groups in Europe. What did you expect when hordes of immigrants invade another country, expect immediate handouts and rape their women.

If you all want to experiment with borderless countries get your own country. And when these people enter into it and start doing what they've done in Europe, the whole lot of you will turn into nativists and xenophobes.

It will instructional for you and amusing for us.

They are refugees because ' we ' have destroyed their homes. Moral; Don't kick a termites' nest with bare feet.
