They are the ONES who own all the infrastructure for gas delivery.

Who's going to pay for all this help?

The only way to help these people is for 'society' to work. Since Republicon ideology has made you believe society is socialism (and that's a bad thing) we don't expect too much help from you or your radical faction in the govt. We expect you to be a hinderance actually.

All of this is wrong. The Port Authority controls the infrastructure and delivery ensuring they get every dime of their taxes. Cuomo removed that pre-tax so that they could get the fuel delivered more efficiently.

BTW they could have sent the gas from other areas by the truck load if they were having delays in the shipping sector.


That infrastructure was hit also in the storm.

Which is necessary because the Port Authority collects it and would not allow the delivery. Basically he got rid of one point of clog, the government forcing them to pay before delivery.

Good for him.

The power companies are there, literally they have to be. So they are some of the victims, the preconceived notion that they are dragging their feet or something is foolish, IMO. I don't think that the threats to them are effective or helpful. They want the power back up, because that is what makes them money.
 
I agree to some extent but we all know corporations have ONE motivation and that is profit and not keeping people from freezing if you cant make a profit doing it.


That is why we have to have regulations to protect human beings from being harmed when corporations dont consider them over profit.

Removing federal red tape is the job of Obama during a crisis, has he done enough? I don't know. I know Bush didn't plug in early enough for Katrina.

Pre-DHS FEMA was more efficient because there wasn't a bureaucratic battle each time they asked for resources. Because of the DHS FEMA's job has become much more difficult and a central authority is necessary to cut that red tape.

FEMA literally is a huge checkbook, unless the state or local authority asks for specific help from the military they can't help much with resources. Since federal restrictions weren't stopping the fuel it was the local authorities that had to change.

Again, when did I say it was Obama's fault? I need some specifics. I don't think Obama's superpowers include weather control, nor does he have the ability or power to change the local red tape.

You do realize that the majority of the problem is not a shortage of gas, but a shortage of power to the gas stations?

How are they going to pump the gas? It is electricity that is the main problem Desh. As the electricity is restored, more stations are coming back on line.

That motivation itself is not evil and drives them to fix this stuff as quickly as possible. That they aren't "a person" doesn't mean that their motivation isn't enough to work as quickly as possible without stupid threats.

We also have laws to protect human being when they are deliberately selfish. The idea that groups of humans become evil and individuals can never be is a stupid idea. People act poorly sometimes, and laws are necessary to protect the rights of the individual. The idea that no regulation is something anybody is working towards is a stupid idea. Effective regulation is the goal.
