I hate to publicly disagree with a fellow progressive, but I think you're answer--not you personally--is full of shit.

Woke is not about containing MAGA assholes.
Woke is about pandering to hypersensitive snowflakes.

Woke is not about addressing social wrongs.
Woke is about phony righteous indignation, a serious human flaw that's these days being glorified by people who should know better.

I won't do it. I'm above doing it. If we're really being honest, I have a hard time not seriously disrespecting people who do it.

I likewise hate to disagree with you publicly, but there's a first time for everything.

In short, you're not describing woke from a progressive standpoint, its true meaning. Your definition is the one that has been pushed by conservative media. It's the way the MAGAs have tried to redefine woke since the Trump presidency.

But woke emerged in the 1930s. BLM made it popular in 2014. Most white Americans didn't hear it until 2020. It's a movement for racial justice. Any other use of the word bastardizes and cheapens its true meaning.

So with all due respect, I think your understanding of the movement is full of shit.

I am also aware of the intended meaning of WOKE when the expression was initiated and would have had no problem with that concept.
As with the word "gay," the perceived meaning of WOKE is clearly not what it used to be.

I believe in righting social inequities as much as anybody does,
and partly for that reason,
I find the phony righteous indignation of WOKE the way ill-advised liberals, not trumpanzees, apply it
to be a huge distraction from real issues that need addressing.

not African Americans who have any clue about what's important.

This is EXACTLY the reason people on the right, the middle, and center left do not take the wokies serious. How could they? How could anybody? Its absurd. Instead they throw the wokies a few CRUMBS here and there quite frankly just to shut them up because its easier. They will never be taken seriously by those groups because those groups are filled with realists who cut through the nonsense and see things as they really are. That being, the wokies are merely a bunch of unruly children looking for a quick handout,...this is why throwing them a few crumbs here and there works so well. We have become LAZY bad parents,....we have rewarded bad behavior instead of handing out discipline simply because it takes less effort. We gave the screaming naughty child the ice cream they wanted instead of the ass tanning they deserved. This is why you now have 40 year old women and men living in their parents basements.

This was a comment on social media about Adams. I agree with it. He's a member of the Permanently-Aggrieved Bitter Old White Guy Brigade.

He is just mad because younger audiences are gravitating to graphic artists, illustrators, and novelists who are talented people of color. His cartoon isn't appealing to them because it's irrelevant to them. These new artists are landing contracts with Marvel and DC....and sci-fi publishers while he couldn't keep a series on UPN (which he claimed was canceled because he was white, not because he's no longer relevant). He's just one more bitter old man.

He's whining again because I mock him for being a kept man whose wife works to support him in his shit-hole foreign country. He's an Irish Brit who married a Thai woman and moved to that country.
