Well, the progression in any argument with the Left is invariably this:

When confronted with facts, a counterargument, or other solid refutation of their initial vague and emotional argument, they change the subject. This isn't drastic most times, but rather just a tangent of whatever the subject is.

When that doesn't work and the discussion / argument is still going against them, they switch to ad hominem and insults.

If that doesn't work, then they hurl a final profanity laced insult at you and storm off mad, unwilling to continue the discussion.

Since virtually all of the Left's positions are based on desires, feelings, and emotion rather than facts, science, or anything rational, they really have no ammunition to counter such things.
