We now have a full year of COVID data from the four largest states in the country: California, Texas, Florida and New York.

We can look at the factual COVID data and begin to answer a big question: did COVID lockdowns make any sense at all? And also, how do we assess the overall performance of governors in this country?

There is now a year’s worth of data to make that decision predicated on data as opposed to opinion.

For much of the past year, the media told you that New York governor Andrew Cuomo was the political hero of the COVID outbreak and that Florida governor Ron DeSantis was the political villain.

This narrative began back in March of last year and has proven to be incredibly durable, carrying all the way into 2021.

Except the data tells us the exact opposite is true: no big state governor in the country has done a better job than Florida’s Ron DeSantis and no big state governor has done a worse job than New York’s Andrew Cuomo.

This is is not an opinion. This is what objective and factual data tells us.

Here’s the death data in the four largest states in the country over the past year. Deaths per million of population:

  1. New York 2,459
  2. Texas 1,520
  3. Florida 1,437
  4. California 1,321
So New York has been substantially worse than the other three largest states in the country.

But New York hasn’t just done a bad job relative to other states in the country. Here’s how the state of New York’s COVID death rate per capita would rank in the entire world:

  1. New York 2,459
  2. Czechia 1,909
  3. Belgium 1,899
  4. Slovenia 1,899
  5. England 1,805
  6. Italy 1,622
  7. Portugal 1,607
  8. United States 1,582
Let me repeat this: New York, if it were a country, would have the worst COVID death rate in the entire world. The objective data is clear. Far from being a COVID hero, Governor Andrew Cuomo is probably the worst performing elected official in the entire world when it comes to dealing with COVID.

But that’s not all, not only has New York been the worst performing location for COVID in the entire world, they’ve also managed to destroy their economy in the process by adopting draconian lockdowns which have been almost totally ineffective at saving lives.

Look at the most recent unemployment rates in each of the four biggest states in the country:

  1. Florida 6.1%
  2. Texas 7.2%
  3. New York 8.2%
  4. California 9.0%
So not only has New York posted the worst death rate from COVID in the world, they have also tanked their economy in the process, posting the fourth highest unemployment rate in the United States. (They are 46th overall. California is even worse as the 49th worst unemployment rate in the nation.)

The data from the four largest states make it clear: lockdowns haven’t worked in this country.

At all.

They haven’t limited deaths, and they’ve tanked the economy.

This isn’t an opinion. This is what the factual data tells us.

Cuomo is fucked

We shall see. He's the scion of a DEMOCRAT dynasty.

Maybe the people in charge get credit for sacrificing him, and dont get asked too many questions about how it is the he got to where he is and stayed there without objection for so long....because that would be embarrassing .

Don’t be surprised when people disbelieve what the media says

Remember Nayirah? Our media has been lying to us for a long time. There is no way they didn't know who she was.

Just curious...when did most of those NY deaths occur?

Was it in the first couple months, or was is consistently spread out over several months?

Because if it was just the first months, then that makes CA, FL, and TX look like shit for not having learned any of the lessons from NY.

So this isn't actually as strong an argument as you think.

It is an opinion based on these numbers.

These numbers can also mean quite another thing:
New York is the most successful at scamming money from the federal government Covid programs.
The economies of both New York and California (the SOTNY and the SOTC) have high unemployement; but even worse, have many businesses driven completely out of business permanently and many lives financially ruined (something that doesn't show up on unemployment figures).

Yes, these two places have tanked the economy. It's what liberals do. Only look at any Democrat run city, such as Detroit, Chicago, San Francisco, Portland, OR, Seattle, WA, and Los Angeles to see it. Ranches and farms throughout the SOTC are wastelands now, thanks to liberals not building and maintaining water supply systems, and tearing out what systems were in place. These poor farmers and ranchers don't show up on any unemployment figures either.

We now have a full year of COVID data from the four largest states in the country: California, Texas, Florida and New York.

Yes we do, and that data shows that NY managed to get a handle on COVID by May, flattening their death curve while Texas, Florida, and California didn't ever see a flattening of the death curve:

Yeah, so you probably shouldn't have lied about COVID from January-March 2020, huh?

No one is going to go out and spend money if they don't feel safe, and you are the ones who didn't make anyone feel safe.

So you are to blame for those job losses and business closings because you couldn't control yourself from Jan-Mar last year...you were compelled to lie.

Your habitual and compulsive lying is why we got a pandemic, and why Trump lost.

You blew it for him...no one else did. This was entirely your fuckup.

Special pleading fallacy. No argument presented.

Argument from randU fallacy. False authority fallacies.

Argument from randU fallacy. False authority fallacies.

And you did it again...you avoided by concocting a bullshit lie to excuse yourself from participating in a debate that you know you'll lose.

You cannot live with that humiliation, so you opt out of the debate instead...

But all that does is let my points go unaddressed, which tells me that they landed pretty harshly...after all, you are thinking up excuses to avoid them.

What a shame. I expected more out of you.

I'll just leave this here.

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/usa/new-york/

So what I see there is a bunch of deaths early on, and then not many deaths for almost 9 months.

Now show Florida, California, and Texas against that...if you have the courage.

Their graphs don't look like that one, do they? Their graphs show continuing and consistent increases, never flattening, right?

So how come you posted NY's graph, but didn't post FL, TX, or CA?
