Double Mormon Ticket...

To be sealed they have to become Temple LDS, the majority of the LDS don't go through the hoops to become Temple Mormons. It is a long process and involves baptizing all your dead relatives. You must tithe, do your mission and be baptized in the Temple, but the reward is you are sealed to your family and get to be together forever, god and goddess, and the goddess gets to make spiritual babies or eternity! Doesn't that sound fun, Darla!

I didn't link to what?

Your brother, if not LDS can't be sealed, according to my understanding. They can be together forever, but they don't get to be god nd goddess.

You made the comment based on when a kid was baptized and my pointed request to link to any official document that says that nobody can convert and that they are "always Mormons"... I simply point out to you the difference between an 8 year old being baptized and what a Sealing is.

I also pointed out that because my brother was not LDS they could not be sealed, and then pointed out that most Mormons are not Sealed and why...

Then Onceler decided to throw in a stupid semantic argument which Jarod desperately tried to hang onto.

This religious bigotry should not be defended by stupidity or sarcasm, it isn't okay.

There is zero reason for bigotry when there is available knowledge to be had, and people who pride themselves on being open minded shouldn't spout this stupidity for political profit. Bigots need to be told they are bigots so they can correct if they want or will wade into that sludge with full knowledge.

I'm reading my third book on Mormons and this is exactly right. The second book was about Mark Hofmann who forged a bunch of Mormon documents and set off bombs to cover his tracks. Hofmann's father was so shattered by the crimes that he told Mark he wished the death penalty by shooting on him, so there would be blood atonement and then the family could be reunited in eternity.

My conclusion on NFL beer drinkers might be correct, too - but his basis for the conclusion was 100% bogus.

You have been hanging with Yurt too much. You derail threads with such nonsense. Then when someone calls you out for being pathetic, you give us one of your 'you guys are going into hyper Romney defense'. This had more to do with Jarod's bigotry and false statements about Mormons than about Romney directly. It was actually a defense against his bigotry towards Rubio.

Again, either you really believe that I meant that I know "most Mormons" or you are playing a stupid semantic game to defend bigotry. Either way this kind of stupidity looks ugly on you.

I later explained why it is rare among all Mormons and the difference between those in my experience and "most Mormons"...

I'm good with your silliness, but you shouldn't use stupid to defend bigotry. It just spreads stupid.

I would be curious Onceler... why is it that you chose Damo to call out for anecdotal evidence and not Jarod? Especially given Jarod's bigotry in this thread?

Weirdest spin ever. I'm not "defending bigotry." Lame attempt at emotionalism.

Your statement was essentially "most Mormons don't believe that, because I know a few Mormons and they don't believe that." It isn't semantics. That's what you said.

You & SF are fun to watch when you get in this mode, though. And, just to reiterate, the early hyper-defense of Romney mode you're both in is great.

Again - are you taking Yurt night classes? Damo's statement struck me for its lack of logic, so I commented on it. I never signed a pledge for "equal call-out" what I joined the board.

I guess on that note, why aren't you calling out Damo for his anecdotal evidence, since you seemed to have signed said pledge?

Dear Onceler... that is the point... Jarod made several such comments, yet you chose to nitpick Damo's. Then you have the nerve to say that the discussion of the Mormon faith is some 'hyper defense of Romney'. It had nothing to do with Romney.

You are simply being a pathetic little hack. Especially given the fact that both Rana and Christie also stated that Damo was correct.

So, no reason that you haven't called out Damo for anecdotal evidence? That's an odd double-standard.

Will I have to defend Robert Byrd next?

I never said anything about what they believe in that post. I said that Sealings rarely happen, then specifically told you about those among my experience as well, the dividing comma really does mean that there is a new thought. I've had a good conversation with Rana, but you have been deliberately obtuse.

You are literally making stuff up here. I never said that "most Mormons don't believe that"... I explained a simple concept. Most LDS members aren't even Temple attendees and cannot participate in a Sealing therefore. Among those in my experience (those I personally know) it was rare even among those who both could actually attend Temple. Most of those I know choose not to Seal themselves, instead they are Married in the more public (and less permanent) ceremony.

You & SF are fun to watch when you get in this mode, though. And, just to reiterate, the early hyper-defense of Romney mode you're both in is great.

When you attempt to distract from the bigotry it is a form of defense. I'd say it was funny, but I don't think defense of bigotry in even this form is something that is funny, it is ugly. Especially among those who have some pride of intelligence and believe they have an open mind.

You keep referring to "bigotry"...can you flesh that out a bit?

You keep referring to "bigotry"...can you flesh that out a bit?

Let me say that I started talking about green people and how "those people just don't get married and live in sin", then you informed me how stupid I sounded and that the reality didn't match what I had stated.

Instead of simply understanding that the reality doesn't match, instead I made stupid comments about your semantics and laughed at how I couldn't even see the bigotry. Spreading stupid lies about a religion is bigotry, as much as it would be if I chose to spread it about people who had different pigmentation of skin...

Why are you even participating in this thread? What is your purpose?

He tried to call me out on semantics... I'm not calling you out on semantics. I am asking you to prove your assertion with just one link.

I do know many Mormons, they are part of my family through marriage. It is my experience that among these that I know a "Sealing" is a rare circumstance. I get to know about those but not attend, because you have to be allowed into Temple to attend that. I have, however attended almost all their marriages because they rarely decide to be "Sealed"...

I know many Mormons and most of them who are married were "sealed" that would not lead me however to conclude that MOST Mormons have a "sealing cermanony", I know enough to know that it is just as likely that most Mormons are different than the ones I know.

Which proves nothing about your original assertion. Your ignorance is impressive if you truly do know "many" Mormons and your willingness to spread nonsense about them underlines your bigotry.

Ugh, that is not necessarly bigotry you silly man. You know better. Additionally the color of ones skin has nothing to do with a beilfe system, while ones religous belife system does!

Ok... I am not going to play your ignorant games. I did not call out either for their anecdotal evidence. I did point out that both used it. I also pointed out that you seemed to ignore the non-stop bullshit from Jarod, yet singled Damo out. I also noted your stupidity for proclaiming this conversation on the Mormon faith was 'hyper Romney defense'.

One definition of bigotry is purposefully spreading ignorance even when faced with the truth. Yeah, this thread is bigotry.

So saying that the Mormon Church considers anyone who has been baptized a Mormon as a Mormon is akin to saying green people "don't get married and live in sin?" That's a really weird analogy, Damo.

For starters, I don' think it is necessarily a bad thing for the Mormon church to take that position and the concept itself doesn't have a negative connotation as the "live in sin but" you have there.
