Double Mormon Ticket...

Just as I would have predicted, just like Catholics pic and choose what parts they like.
I mock all religion, it's not personal!
There is no Sutra that says that wealth is wrong in Buddhism. You are simply projecting what you want to believe about me rather than hearing what is said. I'm good with that, my life is lived much differently than yours because I am what I am. I do not have a drive towards the material that you seem to have.

What confuses me is why you are so ashamed of what you have that you won't even tell me about your vehicle while you condemn something you know nothing about?

You don't know how I live my life. You phony better than anyone else is as funny as any other pagan religion.
I drive a civic proudly.

You are fascinating. I had a moment of introspection, and I used that to speak here about my life using your silly posts that I usually pass on. It was fun, but my reality is much different than you believe it is.

Actually I have been a Buddhist for more than half of my life. I converted from Atheism while I was in the Navy. It really wasn't much of a conversion.

Anyway, I grew up in one of the mega-churches. Yeah, one like you see in those leftist hit pieces. Sometime around 9 or 10 I told my mother I didn't believe. I've told that story before. I was an angry Atheist.. It took years to get over the anger and find a small part of peace. At the time I was volunteering in the psych ward of Bethesda and met a dude who was dying of AIDS who had converted to Buddhism. We spoke quite a bit about the philosophy, it fit naturally with my own. It didn't take much conversion.

I am what I am.

The assumption that Buddhists are a one cell organism and all believe that government solutions to every problem is the only way to go is where Tom gets a bit off. Where you get a bit off is assuming that my "conversion" to Buddhism was in any way like yours to a belief in Jah which seems to be a jump to an excuse to live in an altered state of mind.

There is a difference in how I apply my beliefs to my life. I believe the precepts are applied personally, not through government and never forced. Unlike people who believe that government is the only path to help others, many Buddhists share this experience of personal action over governmental force of action.

I have to give Damocles respect for a lot of this post. When you are raised in a strict religen it takes a mentally tough person to leave it. Also, he is correct that one can subscribe to a religen and not expect the Government to adopt its pholosophies, a government should not be promoting or baseing its actions on any particular religen. I would not like it if our government adopted Sharia Law of Catholic Doctrine as basic principals for governing.

I dont like the comments about Jah and his perceptions as to why anyone else would follow any particular religen. To me thats uncool. Leave that alone and leave alone why they choose to live any certain way, such judgements do not need to be made. Many would have something to say about Damocles finding a religen that fit him, instead of making himself fit religen. Personally I see it the way Damocles sees it, I pick and choose from different religous pholosophies that fit into my way of thinking, some Buddist, some Chrsitian, ect. To me they are all one and part of the truth when interperated correctly.

Jah, is simply a different path than that of the buddist or the New Ager...

I'll give Rubio the benefit of the doubt on this one.

After all, he was an impressionable young kid with a crush on Donny Osmond.

Ive gone back and re-read this thread, I must be missing where I insisted I was correct after hearing Damocles argument that I was wrong???

Please post it here is you can find it, I cant!

I would let it go, Jarod, Damo is being nicotine deprived stubborn on this one, IMO.

I have found that eventually you can get to Damocles if you presist about a point you are correct on, here he is claiming I did something I CLEARLY did not do. He has amended and changed his allegations to be that I deliberatly insisted I was correct after he "proved" to me that I was correct.

What happened is that I backed off my claims after he provided me SOME EVIDENCE that I might be incorrect.

Liberals just get mad at Damo because they can't use anti-Christianity to bash him with, and since the New Left has always been taught that Buddhism is hip, they can only go after him by claiming he's a poor example, and doesn't represent American Pop Buddhism.

I do not belive he is an example at all, and certiantly not a poor one!

Yes, but we can use it against you. ;)

This post is full of nonsense. Read the thread, throughout you continued to "suggest" that a "double-Mormon" ticket would be disastrous even after finding out that even Mormons don't consider anybody "always a Mormon"...

Seriously, this has become very sad. You want me to pretend that what you said didn't mean anything and that your later more vague posts restating it while "blaming" the "misunderstanding" of others made it all better. I gave you the out. Just say, "Well, oops! Apparently I didn't know about LDS and trusted the article, I should have researched a bit."

Instead you just pushed on, continued to "suggest" what you knew to be false and then later dropping a pre-conversation you had about it from some LDS people who ate at your house and insisted, for no apparent reason as the article came out days after that event, that "once a Mormon, always a Mormon"...
