They allow a permissive atmosphere by not enforcing vagrancy, drug possession, disorderly conduct, etc. laws. But you knew that. We all do.
Exactly. The only good thing about this is the rat infestation. Rats can carry bubonic plague and spread it rapidly. There might be hope yet......
I just shake my head and can't see how they could have allowed this to go on for so long already.

That’s the million dollar question. And with the caveat that we’ll never eliminate homelessness because we can’t prevent mental illness, drug abuse or people just down on their luck but skid row and homelessness has been a huge problem in LA for a long time. They’ve made “attempts” to address it but it’s only getting worse. Without getting into the weeds a change in strategy could be called for
Because they are too busy with climate change and saving the planet..........
So very sad. There's a legitimate need for proper mental institutions. These people need physical and mental care inside of facilities that can properly address their needs,
and the public can safely go about their daily lives in a functioning society.
Definitely. Messed up priorities right now. No sense "saving a planet" if you're killing people who would be living on it.

Why just out west? I don't expect volsrock to post this kind of propaganda about every city, just liberal cities. Check out this graph. Looks like most of the cities are on or near coasts. I'm guessing that's a factor in homelessness.

I've looked at a number of different stats and facts about the homeless problem and political affiliation of the cities' managers doesn't even make the list.

Volstrock aside cities run by democrats have the most homeless. Cities run by democrats also have the most wealth. One can argue that local politics don’t contribute to either the wealth or the homelessness. I believe I saw California has half the homeless population in this country. We have the most wealth and most poverty. And we know the politics of the state.
