Dr. King would not have supported Obama or the Democratic Party of today

lol thanks...i honestly don't remember

:0)

I certainly don't suggest that everyone's perspective of King or Obama should be my perspective. But I'm sharing the perspective of a lot of people who lived the era of King as I did, and many others who have studied him.

Obama is symbolism, King, like Malcom, were the real deal.

It is "society" which provides man with food, clothing, a home, the tools of work, language, the forms of thought, and most of the content of thought; his life is made possible through the labor and the accomplishments of the many millions past and present who are all hidden behind the small word "society."
-- Albert Einstein: Why Socialism

Catchy quote BAC, until you actually THINK about what it says.....then its mostly bullshit, though man has probably lived in tribal groups for protection
since they walked upright....

The groups certainly weren't created for the reasons of food, clothing, tools, or a home....communication to some degree is a luxury, not necessary to survival,

Man is a social animal to the degree that most animals are that live in groups, nature....mostly for protection and certainly for procreation.....survival of the species being a creation of nature, so as far as 'a society' goes, its a product of nature and instinct.....we are no different than a school of fish ....

Quite a stretch piece of crap to equate these things with socialism as we view that today......it is a common enough trait of man to latch onto an idea or conclusion and then hunt
high and low for evidence to prove their conclusion......as easy for an isolatinist as it is for socialist......with niether one ever being totally right.
Its an ever changing mind set....not math set in stone.

The combined IQ of every user of the internet is now lower as a result of this post Bravo.

Yeah shithead, you are the first person he ever was compelled to ignore. Another of BAC's sterling qualities.

I am honored. You think I give two shits about that POS? But I totally get that BAC is the JPP token black so we have to treat him with kid gloves

Far be it from me to interrupt two white dudes shooting the shit and telling it like it is. You guys always do know, and after all I'm just a girl, but, I read...opps! I mean a boyfriend of mine once read to me, a book called "Judgement Days; LBJ, MLK Jr., and the laws that changed America". Now from the parts I understood, it seems that actually King and Johnson had a very bad falling out over King's decision to speak out against the war. Further, MLK was assassinated in early 1968...two months before the Summer of Love would even begin.

In other words; he would have been speaking out a whole lot more. Had he lived.

Why do I sound so facetious in this post? Because it literaly makes me sick that the blowhard Tom, comes on here and presents himself as a fucking expert on everything under the sun. He knows shit from shinola about most things, but can always come up with a link. He's a google expert.

Try reading a fucking book! I don't think you know as much about LBJ as you act like you do here either Mott. I really don't.

Sorry, but neither of you have disproved the OP.

I am not sure I agree with the OP, completely. I think it's difficult to say (though King would NOT have supported drones and these continued bombings, period).

But neither you or Tom have proved or disproved anything.
I think you missed my point. Which ever politician Dr. King supported in his life time I doubt that he supported any of them without reservation, suspicion or complete trust because of the simple fact that none we're ever truly on his side or trust worthy. Dr. King did maintain a working dialogue with them because regardless of what he thought or felt about these people, they were the people he had to work with and to a point he worked with them indeed.

You might find an easier time finding a man if you didn't have such a big chip on your shoulder. You are sooooo insecure
Hell it would be even easier for her to find a man if their wasn't so many knuckle dragging antideluvians like you polluting the gene pool. Darla may be many things but she is responsible and does have a social conscience!

They think that because Obama is black that King would not have been critical of his policies .. which is a complete misreading of Dr. King.

King would have been critical of far more than just Obama's love of war.
I'm sure he would have been as am I. Conversely I believe their is much he would have supported. Which is essentially the point I keep trying to make.

i agree about MLK. i think the dems, by and large are still against poverty. war, not so much. then again, dems back then were not against war so much either...vietnam was started by a dem. while i believe we can speculate, based on MLK finally coming out against vietnam, that he would be opposed to today's wars and military action, i can't say for sure. you know more about him than i, however, 9/11 changed a lot of people.

i also believe MLK would not have hesitated to criticize obama, he firmly believed in not judging people by the color of their skin. this is something i also share. a cute story aside...i actually wrote about his i have a dream speech for my second grade writing assignment and his speech has resonated with me to this very day.
I remember being called "Niger Lover" by several of my classmates in the 6th grade for reading Richard Wrights "Black Boy". Not too surprizing considering I went to school in the midwest that was rural and all white. I said nothing to them but discussed it with my father as I was to confused as how to respond to their comments. I asked my father why they called me that and he gave what I thought was a good answer. He said they called you that because they're afraid of these people and it's easer to hate a "thing" than a person.

I wouldn't say that. Obama has to represent a much larger constituency than either Dr. King or Malcom X did.

i was called the same thing for dating a black girl in the 10th grade.

What is a Niger lover?

Are you so conditioned by political correctness you don't have the balls to type it?

:rofl2:

Is this story your version of "I had a black friend"? I think BLAC will still love you if you say nigger

Here try it with me. Ready?

NIG........GER
NIG....... GER

Now put it together. NIGGER. See, it wasn't that hard was it?

King worked well with republicans as well. In fact, he was a republican.

I don't believe that

The suggestion that King supported LBJ because he worked well with him is no suggestion that he supported his war. Have you read his Vietnam speech?

Perhaps you weren't here at the time, but King was quite apolitical. He didn't sing the praises of either party, not did he tell his followers to go vote for either of them. He most certainly had a political ministry .. but he didn't give a damn about the two party system.

As the leader of the SCLC, King maintained a policy of not publicly endorsing a U.S. political party or candidate.

Although King never publicly supported a political party or candidate for president, in a letter to a civil rights supporter in October 1956 he said that he was undecided as to whether he would vote for Adlai Stevenson or Dwight Eisenhower, but that "In the past I always voted the Democratic ticket.
AG Robert Kenndy was the one that put the FBI to investigating and wire-tapping King in '63

LBJ was enough for me to reevaluate the Democrat Party then, and Nixon was no prize after him, so choosing a side was an evolution over a few years for me....conservatism
was the way I choose and puts me center right in todays political zoo....considering todays pinheads are far left and demonstrate little or no reason or logic on issues.
Dems were hypocrites then and they are hypocrites now but with the entire media in their pockets, they are very powerful and therefore very dangerous to our Constitutional rights.

"Your argument is with Einstein brother. "....bac........Yeah, I knew that was coming.....Einstein was a genius mathamitician, that doesn't make him infallible and an expert
on every aspec of life or political issues.....he was a German Jew and lived in a different world with vastly different world experiences than today would offer....a product of his time, not a god.....

And you think that just because you want to be Black, that it means you know what the fuck you're talking about.
Just because you have some Black in you, doesn't make you an expert.

You owe me a new keyboard.
Read your post and spit my drink all over it.
Thanks for the laugh.

Haha.

I am what they call off the market since 2003. Actually, practicably speaking, since 1995.

I am touched by the concern shown by some though.
