Drinking age

It isn't the same thing.
It is not, it is far more important when you are making decisions for others. Personally I believe that if we think they can vote properly they can drink, join the military, own property, including weapons, etc. Voting should be the last thing to give as a responsibility towards somebody you expect cannot control their own life responsibly.

Damocles, you know that argument is stupid and that it isn't going to make anyone with half a brain cell change their opinion about anything.

Why even post this rubbish? You have nothing to back it up so you just make inane statements that have no thrust at the base of the point made.

"You are a poo-poo head!" again? This is the best you can do tonight?

Nobody is going to change the law on 18 to join the military. The reason the voting was lowered from 21 to 18 was because of the "They can be forced to join, but they can't vote on who can lead them?" argument to begin with.

You're being a dumbass. Fuck you.

I have had a problem with this for a long time. How can an individual be both an adult and a minor at the same time? Someone with a greater understanding of the Constitution explain that to me.

If you are 18-20 you can:

1) fight and die for this country
2) vote
3) If you commit a crime you are tried as an adult
4) sign a legally binding contract

BUT....

1) You cannot buy yourself a beer
2) Your second amendment rights are restricted more than other adults

Also, you can't be an escort to minors, such as taking under 17's to an R rated film.

Yeah - but that was the decision of a private organization, not the government. A lot of people have friends that are 18 in high school and would use them to get into the films.

I don't really care. I think 17 year olds should be able to go to whatever film they want to anyway. But I'm in the minority on most issues. It just makes sense if you believe the way they do.
