Egyptian Riots

So the US has been paying Mubarak billions of U.S. tax dollars per year, while "encouraging" him to be a bit less autocratic and "listen" to his people.

This has resulted in years of Mubarak controlling Egypt through the use of secret police, torture, repression and censorship.

Now there is a reaction (that the West is actually taking notice of) the spin is what? That the Islamists are behind it all?

Well, if anyone was paying attention then they'd realise this whole protest movement started off with the students and the call from the 'Muslim Brotherhood' to take to the streets was hardly decisive in inflating the, already quite sizeable, numbers on the streets.

Nevertheless, there's money tied up in Mubarak so he'll probably cling on to power for as long as the powers that be identify a successor to bleed the country dry on their behalf.
We in the US so love Mubarek that we send people to him that won't confess their love of fundamentalist Islam. Egypt under him is a prime destination on the rendition tour.

I already use them correctly, and you forgot Socialist and Socialism.

Liberals advocate socialism, which ultimately leads to communism, which becomes corrupted by commies.

I did not forget them. I did not want to overload any brain cell that might still be functioning within what passes for your head.

And, as Tom correctly suggests, you are taliking crap.

And what do you think Capitalism has been evolving into, with all these mergers and hostile take overs, who are cornering the market(creating monopolies which go against capitalism). Or large companies with steep pockets will open up their own competition to deceive people into believing there is competition.

Not to mention all the Government tax exemptions and government handouts(Bailout money). This is not capitalism and shows how fragile the
Capitalist system is.

Though this is a result of the new word they deceivingly added to capitalism. FREE MARKET. A word they use to justify the outsourcing of America's wealth.

Capitalism hasn't "evolved" into anything, it's still Capitalism. You are talking about Socialist meddling into Capitalism, which is a different problem altogether. Now I don't mind you attacking Capitalism, it's what Socialists do, I fully understand... but Capitalism is responsible for virtually everything surrounding your pathetically spoiled lives. Without it, you would most likely be swinging in a tree, or huddled around a fire in the bush, or laboring as someone's slave somewhere.

Your right to an extent. The Communists did invade America a very long time ago(and are taking over). Though they are using centralized credit and capitalist concept to steal all the wealth(Using IOU's) and leave the American public the bill.

Here is what one wealthy man stated about Capitalism..

"Banking was conceived in iniquity and was born in sin. The Bankers own the earth. Take it away from them, but leave them the power to create deposits, and with the flick of the pen they will create enough deposits to buy it back again. However, take it away from them, and all the great fortunes like mine will disappear and they ought to disappear, for this would be a happier and better world to live in. But, if you wish to remain the slaves of Bankers and pay the cost of your own slavery, let them continue to create deposits." — SIR JOSIAH STAMP, (President of the Bank of England in the 1920's, the second richest man in Britain):

Heres another

"I have never seen more Senators express discontent with their jobs....I think the major cause is that, deep down in our hearts, we have been accomplices in doing something terrible and unforgivable to our wonderful country. Deep down in our heart, we know that we have given our children a legacy of bankruptcy. We have defrauded our country to get ourselves elected." - John Danforth (R-Mo)

Truman loses China
Johnson loses Vietnam
Carter loses Iran
Obama loses Eygpt

Its really the democratic way.... put a Dem in the White House and 4 out of 5 will lose a former ally.

Obama just wanted to be like his Dem predecessors. ;)
China was lost way before Truman, Ike lost Vietnam, no one lost Iran but the Shah. I know lets start a war in Eygpt. We can come to the aid of a totalitarian. It'll be just like old times when we supported Pinochet, Samoza and Duarte.

wow... so when do YOU think China was lost?

Ike did not lose Vietnam. while we were supporting the French efforts there, Vietnam was lost under Johnson and made worse by Nixon.

I agree with Iran.... but that kind of ruins the joke (hence the winking smiley)

As for Egypt... no, we should not go to war in Egypt. Especially for a thug like Mubarak. That said, if the Brotherhood gain too much power there.... Israel is staring down the barrel of another six day war scenario. Unfortunately the message from the Obama admin is muddled at best. He has no credibility in this situation and thus we are relegated to the sidelines.

Well, in this particular case it seems people are tired of living under a form of post coupe martial law for over 3 decades....being poor and/or living in a police state while others are fat and happy tends to get on ones nerves after awhile.

Once again, the USA is caught perplexing over how to keep up the global appearance of being the bastion of fair play and righteousness while maintaining it's long standing support of (choose one: a dictator, an oligarchy, a fascist regime). Can America actually want democracy in a region that might not see eye to eye with it's long standing policies and business arrangements?

What's interesting to me is that DESPITE the over-whelming reports that the Islamic Brotherhood only voiced support of the protests AFTER they were successful, U.S. journalists and pundits keep trying to make them the main drive of the call to oust Mubarak.....DESPITE the FACT that this was started by all classes and religious denominations of people.

And how does the USA threaten to cut off funds to Egypt when all Egypt has to do is cut off it's air space to U.S. planes?

The next few weeks are going to be REAL interesting.

Vietnam was lost the day we renegged on our deal with Ho. Right after WWII we said that Vietnam would be run by Vietnamese. Ho was put in charge and there was even a ceremony with American generals in attendance rewarding Ho for his assistance with fighting the Japanese. China was lost when the Commumists began their revolution. Mao put it on hold to fight the Japanese but China was gone.

The rest of the ME better remember what happened during the last 6 day war.
Did they ever send all those shoes back to the owners??

I feel sorry for the Christians in Egypt, and any Buddhists who may be there. Pretty much anybody who isn't uber-Islamist neo-Jihadist...

It would do well to remember that we sold some of the exact same equipment to the 12th largest army in the world... Egypt. If it becomes an Islamist state run by the Brotherhood, it isn't good for US interest.

Maybe Obama will open up the oil we have for drilling... *sigh*

But it's not the "uber" Islamist or "neo" jihadist that are the originators, leaders or at the forefront of the current movement. I'm not saying that there isn't the possibility of future confrontations and such, but currently theres no indication of what your alluding to happening at present.

It doesn't matter if they are the originators. They'll take advantage of the situation regardless.

ewww. scary islamic bogeyman. LOL.

if you were really afraid of jihadists you would want to stop them immigrating here, but you don't. Your fear of islamicism is only relevant in your zionist aspects.

Just wondering, apropos of nothing at all. Mubarrak is said to have been corrupt.
Would that have been anything to do with Pyramid selling?
