End police unions?

Snowden says this is where to start and I agree with him. I was once a union member and the worst thing about it was that the Union would almost always leave no stone upturned protecting substandard people from the consequences of being substandard. A superior performer myself I found this infuriating. I also have for a long time believed that all public sector unions harm the nation because I watched them at the state level partner up with the government leaders to mislead and defraud the citizens during contract talks.

What say U?

Sounds like you enjoyed receiving a union pension and union salary, even as you scold other Americans to foresake the benefits of unions

I say end all PUBLIC unions, there's no need for them.
 
I have a friend who is a teacher. She is TIRED of teachers union. All they do is bitch, bitch, moan and play political game. Especially now when it comes to wearing masks and virtual classrooms.

Because it is a debate that needs to happen and is largely not happening in the wider society....I was hoping that we could talk about it here.....and also talk about why there is so little talk on this subject. What if getting rid of police unions is exactly what we should be doing....what if we are not talking about it because the Left wants to support unions even when police unions are a big problem?????

Maybe we could even talk about why the national conversation is so horrible in quality.....there were so many place for this thread to go....it however effectively generated almost no interest.

I think the left is OK with eliminating police unions.

Getting rid of a public union, even a police union, won't happen because these public unions are used by both political parties to force future legislatures to deal with the will of previous legislatures. This is not supposed to be done but it happens and it's convenient, for both major parties, so...nothing to see here.

Is this a bigger deal than having the unions around to help the political class deceive the citizens, which is how I noticed that it works here in Washington State?

I think he got a point. The claim is that the Left wants to "defund" the police, then by logical extension, they want the police unions eliminated.

Public union contracts force the current legislatures to honor agreements made by past legislatures.
