Earlier you said "With a heat pump you are essentially using electric heat." Are you recanting that now?

Why can't you just admit that a heat pump is not "essentially using electric heat"?

Simple. It does use electricity to provide heat. The heat pump is simply more efficient than a resistance heater since it draws heat form a source (air).

Since you could heat your house with passive solar and use no electricity, you are "essentially" heating with electricity.

Solar is a joke on a large scale. I have solar panels. Unreliable. My hydro provides much more reliable electricity at my mountain retreat. I am completely off grid

Simply qualify your statement that all subsidies are bad then, instead of only mentioning renewables with disdain.

Believe it or not, coal is subsidized when it is sprayed with diesel fuel before being blown into the boiler and there are plenty of others as well.

Likewise, those who claim there are no subsidies in a given industry, ignore the original subsidies necessary when the industry was in the fledgling stage.
