Then he strutted to the location (it was not abandoned in the sense that it hadn't been used for a long time, but was empty at that time). That's been long refuted. The plans to clear out the area happened well before anyone knew of any plan to visit the church. They did it in order to put up better fencing to deal with security threats from the protestors. The church visit occurred later and was not the cause of the clearing:
