Very true. My parents were very involved in our church when I was a kid. Dad was an usher and committee member; mom was the communion lady and took care of all that involved, plus all the meetings and hosting of fellowship dinners and the like. We often spent most of Sunday at the church. It was eye-opening to a little kid, to say the least, to overhear what some of the adults talked about when they didn't think the kid was listening. All that stuff in Sunday school (and at home) and in the sermon about treating others as you want to be treated. And here were these adults talking trash about other ppl behind their backs, mocking their fashion sense, the behavior of their kids, their appearances, etc. It did not do much for my opinion of religion.
