Are you unable to make the obvious connection between the reasons NATO was formed and Putin showing how the problem still exists? There are plenty of Russians who seek the old days of the Soviet Union to come back, and Putin is one. The truth is Putin has made NATO stronger, and more relevant and has encouraged other nations to want to join.

When it comes to conventional forces, Putin is far more of a paper tiger than any of thought. He does still have a lot of nuclear weapons. And even a Russia far less powerful in conventional weapons than we thought is a danger.
