Five more Monks die in search of Democracy...

It would be far better than simply starving the protest out of the populace using sanctions.

Worked in Cambodia when the Vietnamese invaded....

Probably best our countries don't get involved, we've got a bad rep. India could do it, but they depend on Burmese oil. China won't...

Maybe the Aussies?
I wasn't saying we should, but that the sanctions being discussed will only serve to punish the populace more.

I'd prefer to stay out, or to send UN forces to protect the protestors.

I'm just the opposite, I bashed Bush plenty before it was cool. Now that it's pretty generally accepted that the President is an idiot, I've decided to lay off the man and find other targets.

That is what I don't understand. Why can't the UN send a peacekeeping force in? An actual peacekeeping force. No colonization, no occupation, just peacekeeping.

Well I'm pretty sure that Burma's government would not approve that. That's what the holdup has been in Darfur.

The UN isn't an independent, it is simply a collection of the will of nations....

The Khmer Rouge weren't too chuffed about the Vietnamese invadin and overthrowing, but it worked....

Yes I know! LOL. I forgot about China having the veto. I think there could be a general consensus otherwise.

Like they should have done in Rwanda, yes.

Sorry I cursed at you the other day.

No worries... you were confused, wrong and emotional... a dangerous combination ;) :D

By the way... they DID send in a force into Rwanda... unfortunately they were not authorized to use force, so they stood by and watched the massacre...but from all accounts, made good popcorn for the show. :corn:

I know, I saw the movie! I meant that, they should be authorized to use force, but only to prevent the deaths of innocents.

I was not wrong in what I said SF. But I suppose I shouldn't blame you for everything henious the US has done. I shouldn't have said f you though.

If Cypress won't accept our own country's founding as an example, let's find one a little more near and dear to him.

I think I have it.

1917- Russian Bolsheviks overthrew the Czarist government and established a Communist state.
The Vietnamese did it to the french and then us. Granted they had help from the Soviet Union as far as weapons go.
