Florida snatches parental authority!

Descant is signed a new law in Florida making it illegal for children under 14 to have social media accounts, EVEN IF THEY HAVE PARENTAL PERMISSION!

Ratings still allow a kid to go if their parents go with them.

I do not believe in government snatching parental authority.

R-17 for example, if you are under 17 you can't go in regardless of parental permission. Adult books are the same way.

It would seem to me that this law will largely be ineffective in that if a parent doesn't mind the child having a social media account the parent can simply make one and let the child post on and read it.

I think NC-17 is a violation of free speech and wrong.

I don’t care if it’s ineffective, the law on its face takes away parental rights.

Excellent decision...

You Republicans pretend to care about parental rights, when it suits your goals, otherwise who gives a shit.

No creditability.

But I expect nothing less from a liar.

You hypocrites screamed when Tipper Gore tried to institute a rating system on music.

No prohibition on kids buying the music, just a rating system that would help parents decide if the music was okay for their child.

You are such Hippocrates.

This has nothing to do with Parental rights. It is about stopping harmful Social Media platforms which are designed to addict young minds. This is no different than banning drugs.

Due to the effect that it has on the brain, social media is addictive both physically and psychologically. According to a new study by Harvard University, self-disclosure on social networking sites lights up the same part of the brain that also ignites when taking an addictive substance. The reward area in the brain and its chemical messenger pathways affect decisions and sensations. When someone experiences something rewarding or uses an addictive substance, neurons in the principal dopamine-producing areas in the brain are activated and dopamine levels rise. Therefore, the brain receives a “reward” and associates the drug or activity with positive reinforcement.

I'm pretty sure Conservative parents were in agreement and Libratard parents opposed that.
