Escalation seems a bit vague. What would qualify as an escalation crime to animals. How would training a dog to fight other dogs preclude you violence against other humans. Do you have any studies to back this up?

Escalation seems a bit vague. What would qualify as an escalation crime to animals. How would training a dog to fight other dogs preclude you violence against other humans. Do you have any studies to back this up?
The matter was far worse than that, the way they kill the animals after the fights also adds into it. How was it described?
They were hung, slammed to the ground, burned, drowned... In no way were these animals treated humanely. In fact their training is often cruelty. Such violence toward the animals, especially for no apparent reason, shows signs of more sadistic behavior that is too often escalated.
As well as the joy they take in the fight itself where it is known one of the animals will die, and in one of the most painful ways possible only for the benefit of sadistic joy in watching and so betting addicts can get their fix.
