For Folks Who Donated to Ron Paul

I promote opening up the front door so that the back door isn't so appealing. Once you do that you crack down on guys who hire illegal immigrants so that we can be assured that we know who people are when they come here.

That is a very shortened version of what I promote.

No, if Paul does not win the GOP nod, then I will be at the convention to draft him LP. And I will vote LP or not at all.

Tancredo is a xenophobe, but we should make a better effort to secure our borders and not freely grant unconditional amnesty.

My view does not reflect the stance of the libertarian philosophy or party on this issue.

Okay I watched it. He did not say he would vote for Tom. He just said that he had a close friendship with him and that Tom occasionally visits the liberty caucus and that he and Tancredo did not agree on immigration.

See, I don't like the cracking down part. How do you do that? You have to make employers highly skeptical of hiring, all employees, especially those that might look illegal. Bad news.

I would make it so easy to get in the front door you would not be able to blame employers. Highly infectious diseases and violent criminal records is about the only reason I can see to turn anyone away.

You make it very easy to check SS cards for legality and then require it. Don't make it more difficult than it would be. I don't say that they should go to jail, just that if they don't follow that simple step then they will be fined a good amount. I'm sure many will steal identities in order to get jobs, but then you just prosecute them for identity theft.

The main goal is to create a strong incentive to come legally.

Exactly. I don't know what ib1 is trying to prove. Maybe he is trying to be a typical MSM journalist.

Every job I have had, from farm labor to IT, checked your SS. Is that really a problem?

The Libertarians basically don't believe in border security. :dunno:

It loses them like 90% of their potential voters.

He did not!

Paul invited Tancredo to be the guest speaker at his birthday bash last year .. but Tancredo didn't show up, so Paul had to settle for the lunatic Chris Simcox who thinks Chinese troops are massed along the Mexican border.

That's for real.

You can't make up mindbggling ignorance like that.

81.5% of those who donated to Paul were male .. and no doubt that at least 90% of those were white.

The man knows his constituency.

Ok, this is a somewhat serious thread. Source?

I know right...

It's something that I strongly agree with the LRC needs to be reformed.

Don't believe in border security??? That's like sayin libs want your kids to be able to buy drugs.

Tancredo was right when he said that they will come so long as there are jobs. But then, his answer is nuts, to kill jobs.

Paul is right to call for cutting off the perverse incentives, but that will not stem the tide either. Because most come for work and will so long as there are jobs.

We should stop that? Why?

Call and check??? What? Dont' know about that. They have always taken photocopies of my ss and id.
All they do is fill out the I-9 form with that. Hence making the "voluntary program" mandatory and have them check the information. It's not that hard to do.

The biggest problem with immigration is the illegals, who have no rights to bargain for wages. Same thing with a lot of the visas. The Left and Right want to keep them in the illegal or sublegal layer so their donors can exploit them.

The IT industry raised holy hell, when they threatened their indentured servant program.
