Former Vice President Dick Cheney has died

During the Bush years, and Bush definitely qualifies as a traditional Republican, the party was called racist, fascist, and Nazis. In 2009, liberals were saying the Republican Party was dead and needed to purge all the neocons. Well, the neocons were purged when Trump was elected. Now people are saying to go back to the Bush years? I’m not buying it.
wrong.

the neocons reimposed themselves and murdered Charlie Kirk.

:truestory:

fuck them all.

Like Trump, Cheney received five draft deferments — four for college and one for being a father. According to The Washington Post, Cheney was classified as a 1-A by the Selective Service in 1965. I guess it's better than Trump's non-existent bone spurs?!!:)

I wasn’t saying the Republican Party moved toward Trump because liberals told them to. My point was about this idea that liberals want Republicans to return to traditional conservatism; they hated it when we had it.

And there are people like me who would like to see a return to that kind of conservatism, but we’re small in numbers right now.
Again, not necessarily, don’t think liberals want Republicans to return to any specific ideological sphere rather attack them for lacking spine and being hypocritical, saying they represent one thing and then endorsing Trump policies that directly contradict that which they supposedly embody. And it isn’t done out of principle but rather fear, fear of power, not a lot of profiles in courage coming off the right

I have acquaintances who are traditional Republicans and a few that embrace Trump. I can discuss politics with the former but don’t even attempt it with the latter, go by the “no politics” rule. It isn’t worth exchanging with those that lack any ideological base, and everything is a melodrama, this forum is a good example

Fuck you asshole. You supported the assassination of your president so, fuck you!

Yeah, I was coming here to see if anyone had posted this yet. I am sure we will have some incredibly insensitive remarks soon. Remember leftists, Dick Cheney and Trump had no love lost between them. Maybe that will give him a break.
Dick Cheney was war criminal. He let his chief of staff, Libby take the fall for outting a CIA officer. Her crime? Her husband called bullshit on the Iraq WMD lies.

None of this is "unkind". Its 100% true.

Im sorry man. You need to go find some better heroes, my friend.

At the end of the day, politics is about winning. Very few people are 100% ideologically consistent, that’s just reality. Politicians can fight that and probably lose, or they can adapt to what voters want. Both parties have changed plenty over the years as voters and times have changed. I suppose that can be both good and bad.

And as for this board, it’s not really a discussion board. It’s a politics board. People come here to fight and get their views validated. Real discussion is rare unfortunately.

As much as I detested Cheney while he was in office, looking back I have to say that he and The Shrub were light years better than the squatter garbage occupying (and destroying) the WH now.

Actually makes the Bush era seem like "the good ol' days" by comparison.
Agreed.

People who believe in democracy don’t cheat in elections

Yeah, because right-wing MAGA trash is known for how respectful they are of those who see the world differently than they do.

I wish I'd come here sooner so I could've predicted that you'd come here and make some kind of lame-brained comment like that.
I'd say the same thing if it was Obama, or Biden... (Though I think Clinton will be next, have you seen him?)
