Former Vice President Dick Cheney has died

Yeah, I was coming here to see if anyone had posted this yet. I am sure we will have some incredibly insensitive remarks soon. Remember leftists, Dick Cheney and Trump had no love lost between them. Maybe that will give him a break.

Yeah, because right-wing MAGA trash is known for how respectful they are of those who see the world differently than they do.

I wish I'd come here sooner so I could've predicted that you'd come here and make some kind of lame-brained comment like that.

I’m not too sure about that one

Not just people on the left, but some on both sides are saying that the GOP needs to break away from Trumpism and return to their traditional conservative ideology and principles, I wouldn’t say that automatically means modeling Cheney, who’s character and arrogance pissed off others
During the Bush years, and Bush definitely qualifies as a traditional Republican, the party was called racist, fascist, and Nazis. In 2009, liberals were saying the Republican Party was dead and needed to purge all the neocons. Well, the neocons were purged when Trump was elected. Now people are saying to go back to the Bush years? I’m not buying it.

you correct on this one.
Dude

I keep telling you facts

That’s how I started here

The Bush lead up to the Iraq war in 2001

I tried to show the evidence they were lying

The right fought those facts

I ended up to be correct

FACTS do that for a person

Then I warned you fools about an evolving economic crisis due to the Bush deregulation of the banks

The right fought those facts

I ended up to be correct

I warned about the international influence on American political dialogue before any research on it emerged

The right fought me on that

I turned out to be correct

Facts are amazing that way

He used to be sooo honest and fact based when I first came to know him

It’s really sad

And you traded them for a Russian manufactured hate cult

As much as I detested Cheney while he was in office, looking back I have to say that he and The Shrub were light years better than the squatter garbage occupying (and destroying) the WH now.

Actually makes the Bush era seem like "the good ol' days" by comparison.
They traded that evil crew for a hate cult

but where are you on the wisdom of open borders and sending as many jobs away as possible?

Yeah, but those accusations or others similar always fly from both directions, as does the eulogies for the other political party out of power

And it wasn’t the left that called for the expulsion of traditional Republicanism but the Tea Party movement, the children of Limbaugh, whose good guy/bad guy, no compromise outlook led directly to the grievance populism that provided Trump an avenue to arise and abandonment of conservative principles

R.I.P. VP Cheney. Politically speaking, it’s quite the interesting legacy he leaves.

To liberals he’s evil personified, but #MAGA folks hate him too. And in today’s environment when you hear some on the left say the Republican Party needs to take the party back from Trump, what that really means is going back to the days of Bush and Cheney who they absolutely hated and despised.

And just like everyone gets called a #Magat today, back in the 2000s everyone on the right was labeled a neocon. Now a decent number of those neocons are either Democrats or have left the Republican Party. Politics is not always static.
Which Republicans do the alt lefties here not hate?

the neocons were not purged - they are hiding in plain sight

Lindsey Graham is still Lindsey Graham

I wasn’t saying the Republican Party moved toward Trump because liberals told them to. My point was about this idea that liberals want Republicans to return to traditional conservatism; they hated it when we had it.

And there are people like me who would like to see a return to that kind of conservatism, but we’re small in numbers right now.

I was thinking of folks like Bill Kristol, Max Boot, Nicole Wallace and any number of ex-Republicans. And then as far as the Presidency, Trump cleared out any Republican neocon candidates. That's not to imply every Republican went into isolation mode though.

so break down how Graham would differ from Bill Kristol - I recall them being two peas in a pod
