Wall Street Journal Editor-in-Chief Gerard Baker said his newspaper would not refer to false statements from the Trump administration as “lies,” because doing so would ascribe a “moral intent” to the statements.
Baker appeared on NBC’s “Meet The Press” Sunday, where he described some of President-elect Donald Trump’s falsehoods as “questionable” and “challengeable.” But, he said, “I’d be careful about using the word ‘lie’ ...
He said reporters should state the facts, but leave classifying them to readers, citing the example of Trump’s claim that thousands of Muslims in New Jersey were celebrating on 9/11.
“I think it’s then up to the reader to make up their own mind to say, ‘This is what Donald Trump says. This is what a reliable, trustworthy news organization reports. And you know what? I don’t think that’s true.’”

What Trump is doing is nothing new in world history.
For centuries, despots & tyrants have prioritized undermining and ultimately eliminating a free press.
Strange thing is that's how I felt when Obama got on TV and started running his dick sucker.

I laugh at the notion of a free press anyway. The "free press" allows one side to lie at will. The best example is their deceit in touting the Clinton Surplus. It was an outright lie, but the left wing dominated media still talks about it.

why does Fox News blow away the other stations in ratings? Is it better, is there more conservatives? Or is it that in a supposedly free society, conservative view points are drastically undeserved leaving one alternative to win the ratings war.
The same went with newspapers during the election. Not a single one endorsed Trump. Not one! Late night talk shows. early morning talk shows, all the same. Very biased and one sided.
To claim these institutions are free and open is just asinine. They definitely serve as the voice of the opposition party.

To your general point, media bias is unfortunate. But most of the bias is reserved for opinion pages and shows. Late night talk shows in particular are not really something people should look to for hard news.
Most journalism is still the result of hard work and a commitment to the truth. What Trump is doing to the media right now is shameful & should concern all Americans.
