Joe The Plumber: Gun Control Caused The Holocaust

Samuel Wurzelbacher, famously known as ‘Joe The Plumber,’ is running for Congress this year on a platform of party-line Republican reforms, including gun control. But while it’s only natural that he would make a campaign advertisement around the issue, the tack he took is rather unusual — Wurzelbacher has a new advertisement in which he says that gun control laws are responsible for the Armenian genocide and the Holocaust of the Jews. What’s more, he explains the theory while loading his gun and shooting fruits and vegetables. Watch it:

UPDATE: Hunter Walker at the New York Observer reached out to Wurzelbacher’s spokesperson, who only worsened the comparisons, comparing gun control to slavery as well:

Phil Christofanelli [said] “there’s nothing offensive” about the video and discussed how gun control may have led to slavery in the United States too…. “Well, blacks weren’t allowed to own guns in the south, that’s a historical fact as well,” said Mr. Christofanelli. “So, it would seem that the argument would apply there as well.”

Criteria for winning as a Republican, a video or a picture of the candidate and a gun! Surprised there wasn't a Bible somewhere in the background!

No, the onus is on you to support your claim. Show us some documented evidence that gun control in Nazi Germany enabled the Holocaust.

My knowledge is annectdotal; I don't expect a dyed in the wool liberal to believe me.
I will make the effort nonetheless.

My father was born in Norway in 1929. When the germans invaded Norway, they registered gun owners. Next they came to "inspect" said guns. During the inspection the guns were confiscated.
Next the soldiers came and had their way with my father's sisters, took my grandfathers tools, took their food, etc, none of which would have come to pass had they still had their guns.

Okay, I'll give you that. You make a good point. However, taking their guns was one of many other things/liberties/rights taken in order to render the Jews compliant and defenseless.

Not exactly 'gun control'.

Not gun controll? Semantics.

Anyway, thanks for recognizing my point as valid.

Of all the rights taken from the jews (prior to them being anihilated) which one right would have given them the most ability to defend themselves?

Citizenship.

Now that we've established some mutual respect for each others' points... ;)

Do you agree with Joe the Plumber's claim?

How horrible.

This may sound terrible, but would they have died if they had resisted? The question, was it better to concede and live or fight and die, that is the horrible choice. Was their conceding worth the price they paid?

The Nazis killed a great many people during their invasions.

Yes, I know they did, but your family lived, did they regret their decision?

I hope to never have to make this type of decision, I don't know what I would do, honestly.

It was a horrible time.

You are new here, so I forgive you for asking if I agree with something said by Joe the Plumber, lol.

Apparently there is enough of a distinction between 'cause' and 'enable' for you to say that you don't agree with JtP; thanks for the clarification. ;)

Yes, there is a huge difference between causing something and enabling something. Sometimes I take for granted that we all use the same dictionary.

joe the plumber is a retard. But yes guns could have helped prevent at least some from suffering under the holocaust. that much is obvious.

Good. Now that we've cleared that up - would you agree that Joe the Plumber's a right-wing retard? :D

I don't have the answers Rana, it was way before my time. I do know that there was a great deal of suffering, but it was world wide at that time.
My father had a troubled life, I can't speak for his sisters. I know that a day when they found seagull eggs was a great day.
