I agree with that, but that's not what "MAGA" is about. These racist hicks are not trying to realize an egalitarian democratic republic. They want to restore civil rights as a benefit that only white people can enjoy. Hell, even white women will be returned to second class citizenship and (some) white women want that!

I believe that humans have the potential for greatness, and as an artificially constructed concept such as a "country" goes, the US has a lot of potential to allow humans to achieve mutual greatness. When we elect something like Trump, it could not possibly be clearer that we do not want each other to be great. MAGA is the racist rallying cry of desperate people who never earned a single right in their lives but don't want to share their rights with anyone else. MAGA is the lowest common denominator.

To some extent, this is backlash from decades of Democrats using racism to beat Americans over the head into submission. The backlash started with Labor, specifically blue-collar white males, leaving the Democratic Party and voting against Hillary in 2016. They'd had enough and Trump was the alternative. Now the MAGA AKA Make America White Again movement has expanded to hate anything non-white, non-straight and non-male.
You hit the nail on the head about reducing all white women to second-class citizens. MAGAts are trying to do the impossible, turn back time 60 to 100 years.

The first six months of Trump's administration will prove what they are trying to do. IMO, this will backfire on them since, as always, results count.
