Game of Thrones

Rationalist

Hail Voltaire
This show is amaaazing. I spent the entire weekend catching up. There is so much treachery, it actually reminds me a little of this site. I know Grind and Rana watch it...anyone else?

Also I should add that the mother of dragons is possibly the sexiest woman I've ever seen. What a smokeshow.

Just wait, I read the books, waiting for #6, it just gets better!

the rule of JPP is that everyone should watch game of thrones. I think it fits in with most peoples tastes here with all the political intrique/quest for power stuff. O_o

Considering the softcore porn nature of the show, it can be awkward having the show on when certain people are around. Especially the gay shit.

Well, my girlfriend's mom is currently staying with her until August. That's what I meant by awkward. But HBO really loves its sexual choreography, not to mention that my friends inform me that there's no gay romance in the books. I mean, it's not like I haven't already seen HBO stuff such as Camelot, The Tudors, and some episodes of Rome...

3d you are going to give people the wrong idea. It was like 2 scenes (both relatively short) over 20 hours and it's nothing that's shown in any major detail. just implied. but yeah, kinda awkward for those few minutes

I read the books. That should be good enough.

Not really, it is very thrilling to see the screen writers and directors interpretations of the books. I also read the books, but the series is well done, well acted, beautifully filmed.

You are missing out.

I posted one post, then had to go back and check my accuracy, true, there is no gay sex in the book, but just a slight impressions given

Renly’s own brother seems to doubt his sexuality. From CoK, pg. 478, a conversation between Renly and Stannis:

“...I got Margaery. You’ll be pleased to know she came to me a maid.”
“In your bed she’s like to die that way.”

Renly is “gay in the books, too,” says George R.R. Martin, the author of the bestselling novels. But online chatter suggests that not every reader picked that fact up.

“I never meant to make it a mystery,” Martin says. “I like to handle things subtly. I couldn’t ever actually say, ‘such-and-such is gay,’ because, as I’m sure you know, the word wasn’t invented until the 60s. And I’m talking medieval times, and I’m not going to say, ‘so-and-so is gay.’ But I thought it was pretty clear in context.”

damo... nooooo. i've heard from a lot of book fans that they also have really liked the show and for the most part they've stuck to the narrative pretty well so far. Also george rr martin has even written some episodes. you gotta watch it bro

Well, I'm going to read the books first. Not because I'm an elitist about the show, though. The show does have an excellent reputation.
