Gas down $1.58, give Obama credit?

Dude you are looking at a year change in gas prices while Obama has only been in office six months.

This graph is only for San Francisco but I would surmise it can't be too far off the curve for the rest of the country. Gas is $4.61 in June 2008 and then $2.04 in January 2009 and is $2.90 today. So gases prices have actually risen under Obama.

Since you wanted to give him credit when you thought it dropped under his watch do you want to blame him now?

Anyone will tell you the true measure of gas prices is year to year as it historically has followed certian trends during the year. Up in the summer, down in the winter.

Democrats are losing thier minds.
Just because anti-war and the Mortgage brokers gone wild got the republicans exiled they think every left idea is right and every right one is wrong.

What are the GOP ideas right now? I asked what their plan for healthcare was on another thread, and the usual suspects came up blank; they kept telling me to google it. I did; it wasn't much.

Healthcare is a problem, tops; it costs us a bundle anyway. I would LOVE to here some viable alternative/compromise ideas, but there is nothing out there. I don't think the Dem plan is perfect by any means.

Like you have said, though, it's probably dead in the water, anyway. It's a bummer, because healthcare will continue to be a very major, very expensive issue until somebody puts something out there that can actually work...

It's not near the prob they make it out to be, many of the 40mm don't want to buy it. ie 20 somethings.
And not addressing cost (doctors way over payed) kills reform

Actually Jarod I have to give Bush credit. He is one of the biggest causes of the recession, and the continuing recession is what is keeping gas prices down somewhat.

They don't want to buy it because it's too expensive; that's hardly surprising.

More often than not, we end up paying for their healthcare when they need it, anyway.

Year over year is a good measure to compare where gas prices are compared to past years. however, it does NOT support your idiocy that gas prices have fallen since Obama took office. To the contrary, they have increased. Again, this is not due to anything Obama has done.... it is more due to seasonal shifts and the fact that once again oil fell too far due to speculation. (though as usual, no one bitches when speculators drive oil too LOW)

This is part of the problem. They are not presenting any viable alternatives at this time. (at least none that I have seen)

I think they need to take a hard look at what goes into an average hospital bill. What amount is for equipment use, doctors fees, malpractice insurance, admin, etc...? Then look at where we can reduce costs. Until we get costs under control, we will never be able to offer a viable alternative.

Ok, so why did you start this thread then when gas has risen while Obama has been in office?

I agree completely. I think if they take a really close look at that stuff, they'll find some old-style Pentagon profit margins hidden in there. The cost increases are out of whack with everything else.

Insurance fraud is also a biggie, imo. Controlling costs should be priority #1....

Just saying a healthcare plan is needed doesn't make it so.
It's a democrat talking point equivalent to republicans saying lower taxes.

Wow. I agree. Fecking weird... Now I have to reevaluate.

No, you may be too dense to understand, I assume that is true from past conversations with you, but last July when Bush was president.. gas was 1.58 per gallon more than this July when President Obama is president.

July to July is the only way to get apples to apples. Its basic economics. Thats why many financial numbers are based on last year at the same month. The oil companies always jack up the numbers as much as they can get away with over the summer driving season. Over the winter they lower prices so they will not be blamed for poor people freezing to death.

again you fucking moron.... while that is the way to compare apples to apples in terms of GAS prices. IT DOES NOT SUPPORT WHAT YOU CLAIMED. GAS PRICES DID NOT GO DOWN $1.58 UNDER OBAMA. They have RISEN under Obama. You calculate THAT by looking at where gas prices were on JAN 20th and comparing them to where they are TODAY. That is how you tell if gas prices are up or down under Obama. Fucking moron.

LOL have you seen even a remotely smart economics post from Jarod. That's kinda harsh Rick James as your a professional investor and he's an ambulance chaser.
I bet he can run circles around you writing a will.

I haven't seen any smart economiic posts from you either.

If you would like a couple he knows cap & trade is a scam, excessive taxation on the rich is counter productive that Obama's health care plan right now is exremely expensive...

and he agrees USC sucks....

oh wait, that isn't economics... but it does show some signs of intelligence from toppy.
