General Board Discussion: Why do people announce they have other people "on ignore?

Quite true. You probably noticed the 7th-grade mean girl posts that never discuss issues, only attacks on other ppl, whether they're other members or nasty snark about public ppl's appearances. Granted some guys also engage in that childishness but in general it's bitter and angry females suffering from arrested development.

I do find it fascinating that all these people who voted for Trump seem unable to put together any kind of rational argument for picking him beyond (a) "ALL DEMONCRATS ARE MURIKUH HATING KOMMIENISTS!!!" or (b) TEH LEFTISTS!!!! TEH LEFTISTS!!!! TEH LEFTISTS!!!! OMG TEH LEFTISTS!!!!" or (c) WHUTABOWT BIDEN???? HUH? HUH????

Truth be told I wanted Sherrod Brown but I guess he wasn't interested in the job, but I would like to point out that in most cases there is a big difference between the two parties. I do not see a lot of Democrat behavior that treats any Dem candidate as a Valentine, or as a deity, or as some superhero.

Most Democrats view a president as a public servant. They may like this or that candidate but they're not going to worship him, they just like him or her and if they cease doing a good job, that begins to fade, which is obviously what happened in this case.
Still, Biden did a pretty good for a while, then his mental faculties became somewhat frail, and it's a shame but it is not the first time an elderly POTUS has begun to lose their mojo and their grip on sharp and alert mental competence.
We've been here before and examples exist in both parties.

I had a few other picks I wanted more than Biden, by the way...the point is, when it became clear Biden was the Democratic Party candidate I voted for him and hoped for the best because at no time did I decide that Donald Trump was a better alternative.
In 2007 I had not yet heard of Barack Obama, I was being a workaholic because there was plenty to do and money to be made and so when I first heard the name I thought the DNC had lost their minds because here we were just six years and change from 9/11 and DNC is giving us some guy named HUSSEIN??
So for a little while I was prepared to hold my nose and pull the R lever for John McCain, even while knowing he would piss me off more than a little bit, but I saw McCain as an otherwise honorable man and I was certain that some guy named Hussein had as much chance of winning as a ping pong ball in a cyclotron.

Naturally I figured out quickly that Hussein was actually a pretty decent guy, but had I not reached that conclusion I was going to vote Republican for the first time in my life.
That's how elections work, folks.
We are not supposed to crown potentates with absolute power to rule by decree, which is what we're about to face now.

---So maybe conservatives can win back control from the MAGA dumpster fire and we might see rational arguments for a change, instead of the "High School Mean Girl" bullshit we're seeing now.

Beautiful, eloquent, truth-filled post. Thank you. I felt the same way about Obama as a candidate, until I heard him speak and read about his political career up to that point. He was and is a decent, rational, intelligent, classy human being, one that won the admiration and respect of other nations as well as our citizens. No scandals in eight years, either. Then we whiplashed to a bullying criminal game show host, then back to Biden whom we hoped would be Obama Lite but who wasn't. And now we are going to find out just what it is like to have a despot ruler rather than a citizen Mr. President. It's too bad that Biden didn't simply decline to run again so we could have had a real primary. I would have liked to see our governor Whitmer as the candidate. I think she could have beaten the Toadstool, who only won by 1.5% of all the votes cast.
