Genius Elon Musk calls for the ACLU to be defunded (they don't receive Federal money). LOL

From their website...
"The ACLU is nonprofit and nonpartisan. We do not receive any government funding. Member dues as well as contributions and grants from private foundations and individuals pay for the work we do."

Wait until he finds out about the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Yep Elon is an idiot savant
More proof the MAGAts are fucking morons. Sad.

10.3 million in government grants. Plus tax exempt status.

Oh grants?

Cope harder.
Note that Legina is quoting a source owned by the People's Republic of China. LOL

So the DOGE wants to cut 7% of the ACLU's funding; the government grants. Brave talk from someone who has a lot of government funding himself. LOL

From Legina's Chinese link:
Top Sources of Funding

So, where does the ACLU get its money? The organization’s top sources of funding include:

• Individual Donors: $64.6 million (46% of total contributions and grants)
• Foundation Grants: $34.4 million (25% of total contributions and grants)
• Corporate Donations: $14.1 million (10% of total contributions and grants)
• Government Grants: $10.3 million (7% of total contributions and grants)

• Other Sources: $16.9 million (12% of total contributions and grants)

Government Grants

He might be talking about this (from the article Lionfish cited):

While the ACLU is known for its work challenging government overreach, the organization does receive some funding from government agencies. In 2020, the ACLU received $10.3 million in government grants, primarily from the Legal Services Corporation and the Bureau of Justice Assistance.

Otherwise, it sounds more like just a generalized expression of dislike for the organization, like lefties saying "defund the police". I have a feeling it has something to do with the ACLU's involvement with that gender affirmation care for minors BS going on in the SCOTUS right now.

If so, I'm right there with him.
The irony I find with the ACLU is it's claim of non-partisanship. Now plenty of non-profit organizations lean one way or the other but the ACLU is well past the leaning stage.

Until a few weeks ago I had not heard their name mentioned in years. The ACLU name used to carry weight. Now it's just another progressive group.

The irony of Musk's statement is it will probably help increase the ACLU's fundraising.

He didn't say the ACLU is government funded you moron. He is saying people should not fund the ACLU. He is correct. The ACLU isn't the altruistic institution that it used to be.

100% correct

:thumbsupkid:

I can totally relate to that! Now you know how I felt for the past 4 years with the tater head and kamala show! I'll give you a hint though, find something else to do that's REALLY fun because eventually I just got mad when all that biden crap came down. I finally completely retired last year because it wasn't worth working anymore, now I do all the fun stuff I never had time for and the TV stayed off for quite a while.

I predict you'll last maybe 6 months before you start getting mad at Trump's successes.

If Trump has successes, I won't be mad at all. I want the country to do well.

I find it doubtful that this is the outcome, however. Trump is an incompetent executive. His 1st term was a near disaster, and his Cabinet picks so far instill no confidence (the only criteria is fierce loyalty - qualifications & experience literally don't matter). Even in business, Trump's "success" is largely mythologized.

But I'll hold out hope. Maybe he'll get lucky.

I'm sure he'll do away with the billions he receives from the govt. for Starlink/Tesla.

This reminds me of when trump criticized California for not raking the forests before the wildfires started. Meanwhile, the fires were overwhelmingly on Fed. land.

What is your opinion of government employees that just signed a contract that said they can work from home for the next 5 years. Sounds like they are trying to sabotage DOGE.

I knew you were a hideous Ork but I would have thought that you would have at least known that DEFUNDING something does not always mean cutting off govt tax dollars right?  Dumb old Ork.
It means that when the funding is government tax dollars, regularly the case in calls for "defunding". Do you think Trump's right wing nutcase was making his plea to ACLU's liberal benefactors

More like idiot sans savant.

Oh, he'll get lucky alright. He'll continue to monetize the office, transferring millions of taxpayer dollars directly into his coffers. He'll continue to sell national policy to the highest bidder (Saudi Arabia must have won bigly, so they handed Jarod $2 billion).
He's still got top secret documents at Mar A Lago, and given that everything he now does is 'legal', he'll sell secrets to our enemies. Hell...he gave many of them away the first time around.

trump succeeded in taking power again, solely to stay out of prison. The monetization is a secondary perk. The reason trump is unfit for office, is that EVERYTHING is personal with him. If he feels slighted because someone told the truth about him, he attacks.

Not exactly the diplomat you want wading the deep waters of foreign/domestic policy.

Yeah, that 7% cut will show those 'libtards' who's the boss!

"DOGE" doesn't exist .... yet. And the push for working from home started BEFORE Covid hit, don't cha know. Look it up yourself, because I'm damned tired of doing homework for willfully ignorant MAGA trolls.
