You could also say Christianity was a death cult considering the witch burnings in Europe that were condoned by the Catholic church as well as the Protestant churches.

The purpose of the Crusades was that church power was waning.. The crusades supercharged the believers and the looters were doing it for God.

Genocide is intentional action to destroy a people (usually defined as an ethnic, national, racial, or religious group) in whole or in part. The hybrid word "genocide" is a combination of the Greek word génos ("race, people") and the Latin suffix -cide ("act of killing").

Well, there are no races other than the human now, or for a very long time. Do you date back further? 'Religions' are mostly about appeasing fifth-century BC tyrants transferred to the sky or somewhere similar, as far as I can see, though they all tend to contain very useful ethical and other elements which, in the cases of Christianity and Buddhism, seem central enough to escape the 'religious' tag.
