Correct and as i have pointed out even Jesus had his limits. There seems to have been a perversion of the Christian message. Some people seem to believe the message is everything is allowable and to speak against something is not how Jesus did it. Its pure bs.
Eschewing revenge was, and still is, a radical transformation of human ethos and behavior. Compare that to the glorification of revenge and retribution in other ancient literature.
The second most important person in the Christian tradition after Paul, Saint Augustine of Hippo, certainly didn't see there was an absolute requirement to be completely docile and pacifist in all situations. Augustine wrote that the Christian had to balance the expectations of being a Christian with the expectations of being a citizen. A citizen has an obligation to fight and serve in the military, with the only caveat that Christians should only fight in morally justifiable wars.
