We can debate the merits and flaws of the franchisee system, but in practical terms, they are small businesses despite being connected to a larger brand. Not surprisingly, they are similar in their benefits structure (or often lack thereof).

Because there are people worth paying lots of money because of what they offer then we have those that, because their skills are so low or non-existent, that they have to rely on the government forcing business owners to pay them a minimum far higher than the skills they offer are worth.

When you're able to do thing that are worth thousands of times more to society than another person, you should get paid thousands of times more.
