you have forgotten an important demographic.....the vast majority of voters mature as the get older.....and mature voters tend to vote conservatively......

And wtf does the GOP have to do with conservatism, especially on the fiscal and foreign policy fronts?

Don't forget smaller government and states rights.

Yeah. The only thing they're really conservative on anymore is gay marriage or personal freedom.

Big government "conservtives". Idiots. Party players are almost always idiots.

I wonder how many jobs created during the Bush years was in government or due to government spending?

Just curious, but I suspect it was a notable percentage of the total jobs created.

I do not think we had much real sustainable growth at all.

Missing are the data for independents. They are getting fed up with Obama crisis, as all the polls show.

Yes, the Independents are very disappointed in Obama. Voters now trust Republicans on 8 out of 10 key electoral issues, including the economy.

recently?....not enough....but given a choice between the Republicans and the Democrats it isn't hard for a conservative to make a choice.....

shucks....the liberals are fertilizing it, it should grow back big and strong.....

like mushrooms...

the reps need to reconcile the old and new parts, but those two parts are saying different things

i used to be a rep, but gave up on them when they went off the religious deep end

where are the fiscal conservatives

as i say, i want the biggest bang for my extorted tax dollars

The fertilizer (in the form of BS) is coming from the dwindling, defeated and desperate Right.

Making sure every American has access to high quality health care is one of the most important challenges of our time. The number of uninsured Americans is growing, premiums are skyrocketing, and more people are being denied coverage every day. A moral imperative by any measure, a better system is also essential to rebuilding the shattered economy that George Bush left for President Obama to fix.

BS Lie #1: President Obama wants a big-government health care system where faceless Washington bureacrats control which doctors patients can see and limit the treatments and cures a doctor can prescribe. (BS.)

BS Lie #3: President Obama wants to dictate a top-down system where bureaucrats ration health care. (BS. The plan will require insurance companies to cover pre-existing conditions and will offer subsidies to those who cannot afford to pay their premiums.)

BS Lie #4: President Obama wants to put insurance companies out of business by creating a Washington-run monopoly to control health care. (BS. If private insurers say that the marketplace provides the best quality health care, then why is it that the government, which they say can't run anything, suddenly is going to drive them out of business? Reform is not a monopoly, it's a competitor. President Obama is proposing to reform the existing private system that middle and lower income Americans love to hate.)

BS Lie #5: You won't be able to keep your current health care. (BS. Individuals and small businesses would get to pick either the public plan or a private one through a new kind of insurance purchasing pool called an exchange. For those keen on keeping their current private insurance, President Obama has promised to cut premiums by up to $2,500 annually, money that will be saved by investing in prevention, importing generic drugs, and implementing a digital-record health system that will cut administrative costs.)

BS Lie #6: President Obama's plan will dictate the doctors you can see and the treatment you can receive. (BS. Treatment decisions will be made between doctor and the patient, not like today with an insurance company/HMO in the middle.)

Lie #7: Obama's plan will cut hundreds of millions of dollars from seniors on Medicare. (BS. Rising heath care costs under the current system necessitate trade offs and budget cuts that have a negative effect on the budget. Our ability to control health costs is directly affecting our ability to fully fund, among other things, the Medicare program.)

BS Lie #8: President Obama will bankrupt the Treasury with trillions more in deficit spending. (BS. This is happening under today´s system. Doing nothing will cost us more. Reform will be deficit-neutral. Much of the funding will come from the pockets of America's wealthiest citizens, who will pay their fair share. This will be accomplished by rolling back the Bush tax cuts for Americans earning more than $250,000 per year and retaining the estate tax at it's 2009 level.)

BS Lie #9: President Obama will raise taxes on middle class families and businesses. (BS. Only those with an annual income above $250,000 will be affected. The plan also includes a tax credit for small business owners who provide insurance to their employees.)

"I suffer no illusions that this will be an easy process. It will be hard. But I also know that nearly a century after Teddy Roosevelt first called for reform, the cost of our health care has weighed down our economy and the conscience of our nation long enough. So let there be no doubt: health care reform cannot wait, it must not wait, and it will not wait another year."

President Barack Obama, February 24, 2009

I think you mean the Southern Democrat's appalling record of racism, don't you? :)
No I mean southern conservatives. Prior to 1964's Civil Rights Acts southern conservatives were mostly Democrats now they are mostly Republicans but they are still southern conservatives. Try to keep up with things SM, will ya?

So it's my job to prove your statements?
He's not very good at that. My experience is that when challenged to do that he either changes the subjects or subjects you to some irrelevent circular argument or some empty rhetoric but he will usually run away from your question and not answer it.

LOL That's funny! Keep telling your self that. We'll come back and visit that in 2010 and 2012 when Repubs have lost more seats in congress and Obama is re-elected. LOL

recently?....not enough....but given a choice between the Republicans and the Democrats it isn't hard for a conservative to make a choice.....
I know exactly what you mean. that's why thinking people are mostly voting Democrat. Keep in mind it's the conservative motto of "Vote Republican, it's easier than thinking!" that chased all the moderates out of the party.

So your contention is that Southern Democrats who were racist and would have therefore been on the opposing side of the Republican-led Civil Rights legislation joined up with the Republican Party after the legislation had been passed. And these Democrats are somehow "conservative"? Please explain how that makes sense, based on typical human nature.

Maybe you should read a little slower and you'll understand. It's my contention that racist southern conservatives abandoned the Democratic party when they adopted the civil rights platform and joined the Republican party making it the party of racist southern conservatives. Actually it's not a contention, it's a fact. Wether you care to believe it or not. Keep on practicing your ostrich politics SM! LOL

Democrats had been fighting politically against the GOP on civil rights for nearly a century when they lost to them with the 1964 Civil Rights Act, and before that, fought militarily. Why would they suddenly abandon that fight and join the enemy? And why would you label anyone who showed disrespect to a century of their own sub-culture "conservative"?

Again, your contention makes no sense.
