As the enrollment system went live October 1 for new Affordable Care Act to cover the uninsured, websites set up for the federal and state governments saw overloads, glitches and crashes, in a big embarrassment for the program.

"Whether you are for or against Obamacare, everyone seems to agree the government really dropped the ball on this rollout," said independent technology analyst Jeff Kagan.

Technical problems could deal a blow to the program.

Millions of people were frustrated by the technical issues. AFP found error messages and system failures on several sites, as did other media organizations.

The cyber risks in the Obamacare exchanges endanger Americans by making them more susceptible to identity theft, insurance fraud, and other crimes.

Add to that a whole host of other Obamacare failures, delays, special exemptions, broken promises, and unintended consequences.

It's hard to believe that after two-and-a-half years, they weren't ready for the traffic to the sites, they weren't ready to determine eligibility, and literally they weren't ready to turn on the switch and have it function properly.

So your solution is to debunk the program because of glitches? What if Apple gave up so quickly? What if medical device manufacturers gave up? What if Drug companies gave up.

Gullible lefttards comparing private companies to Gubuhmint; how incredibly stupid?

Dear leftist asshats; Apple, medical device manufacturers and drug companies don't force the American sheeple to pay for the web site or their products.

Dumbasses. Where do such incredibly stupid people come from; Sacramento?

Depending on who you believe, they come from Honolulu. Or Kenya.

Obamacare has a new antagonist: The Obamacare sign-up website.

Over the weekend, healthcare.gov was pulled down for maintenance at off-peak hours because of persistent glitches people encountered once the site went, er, “live” on Tuesday.

Obama and his administration urged patience and understanding.

They’ve released web-traffic numbers, but refuse to disclose enrollment figures.

“What’s happened is the website got overwhelmed by the volume," Obama told the Associated Press in an interview released Saturday.

“Folks are working around the clock and have been systematically reducing the wait times,” Obama said. “But we are confident that over the course of the six months, because it's important to remember people have six months to sign up, that we are going to probably exceed what anybody expected in terms of the amount of interest that people have."

Wait.

What?

How could the Obama Administration not design a system to handle demand from the start?

Isn’t that a raison d'être of the Affordable Care Act — that there’s demand or need from up to 48 million uninsured Americans (about 3.8 million in Florida, the second-least insured state behind Texas)?

And is this really a case of a great online product suffering from being too desirable?

Computer experts have their doubts.

“I'm betting it's a mixture of volume, scaling up, and definitely some code problems,” Clay Ewing, a University of Miami software expert told the Miami’s Herald’s Florida Health Watch blog.

In encountering error messages when he logged on, Ewing speculated: “There are several points of potential failure.”

“This is not solely a traffic issue,” Dan Mendelson, CEO of consultant Avalere Health, told Kaiser Health News. “There are more underlying issues that have to be resolved.”

A freaking five year old can build a website, but the smartest negro in the world can't figger it out?

Maybe instead of union thugs, Obonpmbya should thinkg about hiring 13 year old Minecraft players.

Nice of you to mix in a little racism with your misogyny. It's a combination that most people who have been paying attention for any portion of the last 200 years in this country have seen repeatedly. It's just that such blatant examples aren't generally seen because most sites actually scrub such ignorance as soon as it appears. But here they evidently pride themselves on letting racism and misogyny stand as posted for the admiration of the rest of the bigots and of course they can't wait to all join in.

"...mainstream economists aren’t seeing anything like the catastrophe Republicans have foretold, and they don’t anticipate a calamity, either.

That is because only 3 percent of small businesses — those with fewer than 500 employees — have more than 50 workers, so 97 percent of small employers are exempt from the law’s mandates. Meanwhile, virtually all large companies already offer health insurance to their employees. Aside from things such as reporting requirements, Obamacare’s mandates will directly obligate only about 1 percent of American businesses to do anything different."

While this is all true, it is also evidence that the ACA is going to leave more than a 1/3 of the Americans who are now without health insurance still without health insurance. The United States will still be the industrialized nation with the most uninsured of any industrialized nation after this is fully implemented and the states of the South with the most uninsured (9% versus about 4.6%) are going to continue to have the majority of the uninsured. The country that has since it's founding been two countries ideologically (even after the Civil War and the so-called industrialization of the South after Reconstruction) will continue to be two countries for the foreseeable future. And if the current climate in many states in the North, such as Wisconsin, Michigan, and so on, is any indication of the future direction of the country, if it ever does become ideologically unitary the prevailing ideology will apparently be the small government, low tax, Southern model where people are left to die in the street. And that is the true tragedy here. To say I am not hopeful is a gross understatement.

What's your point? Amazon.com still goes down occasionally, too! And when they started out they didn't have the huge influx of traffic that this site was to experience right away. Most companies and their web expertise grew with the web and an increase in popularity and customer interest. This site is experiencing huge volumes from the start. Comparing the government healthcare website to private long standing websites is not a fair comparison. It would be better to compare the VA website or the Postal Service website or any other government websites that have been up and running for years. When has Microsoft ever produced a glitch free product? Please name one of their products that was without glitches. Just one! In fact their products are infamous for the same types of glitches that we are seeing in the rollout. If Microsoft has to pre-test their products with user groups and still winds up with glitches, can anyone expect the government to do what private enterprise cannot. In the end, the websites are not serviced by the government, they are created and serviced by people who work for the government and are likely to make mistakes.

I seem to recall that only recently, Apple systems went into overload because so many people were attempting to download IOS 7.
